Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha have ended their partnership

I contacted my spy over at IAM directly during my lunch break…
Unofficially, it is:

Zachary 😍 is with Hannah 🇰🇷
Marjorie is with Jean Luc 🇺🇸

Personally, I think Marjorie has the better partner. Hopefully, they both skate for 🇨🇦
I wonder how this is possible. Fed changes for top skaters is not easy. It seems to beggar belief, if only from a red tape perspective.

I can't imagine LaLa as individuals getting new partners that will do as well as LaLa right now.
I suppose this will be the challenge and the million-dollar question!

In any case, part of the issue surrounding the split is that LaLa's packaging and choices have NOT been garnering them the competitive results their talent warrants and was envisioned for them several seasons ago. In addition to them never having gotten along well, and experiencing problems setting mutual goals and seeing eye-to-eye without conflicts. 🙁

Never a dull moment!!! 😜 I guess Zach and Hannah will have to wait a year and compete or practise domestically.

Jean-Luc coming back with Marjorie Lajoie for the U.S. would NEVER have been on my bingo card. Astounding! They have to wait a year, too. I can't imagine the next surprise that's in store? What will this off-season forever be known as: 🤔

Slaughterhouse 13
On Messy Pond
There Will Be Blood
No Country for Split Partners
Days of Whines and Oh Noes 😱
The Ghosts of Partnerships Past 👻
Wake Me! Am I Dreaming?
Never Neverland! 🫣
Figure Skating in Wonderland
Partnership Wars
Battlestar Chaotic
Nightmare on Fed Street
I See Unusual People 💀
Alls Well That Ends Fantastically! 💥

The moniker possibilities abound. :palmf: As apparently do the endless 'musical chairs' splits and re-pairings, even with retired skaters! 😳

Well, certainly Jean-Luc has an amazing competitive resume and esteemed stature as a coach and a choreographer, not to mention superb blade skills. Intriguing, indeed.

Not sure what the flags are supposed to indicate in the original post. It makes better sense for Jean-Luc & Marjorie to skate for Canada. Jean-Luc lives there and he would not need to obtain a release. The other way around does not make any sense with the glut of ice dance depth in the U.S., and the need Canada has to rebuild its ice dance discipline.

It would work either way for Zach & Hannah as each would have to wait a year no matter which country they will rep.

Jean-Luc hasn't competed for the USA for how many years now ? I am guessing they would be better off representing Canada because they wouldn't have to wait a year, just the time it takes for the USFED to release him, which I would think may be shorter because he hasn't been skating competitively for a long time. Do they even have to release a skater who hasn't been active for more than two years ? He is not on their funding list. So ?

If they decided to represent the USA, then Marjo needs a release and they cannot compete internationally at all in 2026-27.
Worlds were later this year, because of the Olympics.

Jean-Luc has been in Montreal since they "retired" in 2023-24 season. He is engaged to Olivia Smart and choreographing. He may have his citizenship process started already. If not, it's most likely not possible for him to get it in time for 2030.

Hannah already has Canadian citizenship. All she will need is a release. The Korean Fed has been very slow with allowing Minsol Kwon to skate for Canada. However, considering that Hannah skated for Canada before, I would think they may be less stingy in this case.
In the end, Zach and Hannah will not be able to compete at all this year, other than domestically for the same reason mentioned above (Worlds being earlier in 2027).

So for logistics, it seems likely that both team will represent Canada.

funny. A bunch of us thought Hannah and Zach may be a good fit.

Marjorie with Jean-Luc will be interesting. Marjorie is a whopping 7 cms shorter than Kaitlin. It actually may work out very well for them.

They just need to smarten up because if they want to make the Olympics, one of them doesn't have citizenship.

I was thinking about names for them and well...
I will need to work on this again... because for Majorie and Jean-Luc, my head stopped at the Joy of Baking LOL. I am sure at least one or two other people know which cookbook I am talking about LOL

for Hannah and Zachary I thought of LiLa and then Lilas which stands for Lilacs in French... I guess it's this time of the year

Hannary sounds cute but then so does Canary and then it makes me think of LaLa and their parrots.... CRIES again.

So I guess I won't be naming either of these teams :)

For those interested : here is a beautiful song called Le temps des lilas

It certainly makes sense for both rumored new pairings to rep Canada. Since Jean-Luc hasn't competed in several years at least, the U.S. shouldn't have any hold on him. And yes, he has lived in Canada for years, so citizenship would not seem to take very long. The bigger question is, How fit is Jean-Luc for the competitive slog? 🤔 This would seem to be a partnership for just one quad, if indeed the rumors have validity.

I like LiLa. 🙂 Love the lilac flower association. I can see Hannah wearing a lilac print costume with lilacs in her hair, as she and Zach perform to this song. 🥹

What about for Marjorie & Jean-Luc:

MaJean, JoieLuc, or LaLuc 😊

Even tho' we might be placing the cart before the horse in terms of lacking any official partner announcements as yet. Still, we are allowed some grace re the rapid-fire splits to date 🫨

Tbh, that would be the strongest partners for them I could think of. Still, I can't get over the LaLa split, so it feels a bit like matchmaking for parents after divorce.
Zach and Hannah (LiLa?, LimLa?) - I can see it work skating-wise and there would be a lot to explore but let's see wether they personalities will clash, that's my biggest doubt, but maybe they are mature enough to focus on the goals.
Marjorie and Jean Luc (MaLuc?) - I can't think of any better for Marj, he's a great skater, respectful and mature guy with organized life, so I can see their working ethics coming well together plus he's a creative man with a vision and choreographic experience, it could do really well for their packaging; the biggest doubt is if he really plans to come back and commit for a 4-year cycle plus his stamina and general athletic condition.

I would be very interested to see how a team of Jean-Luc and Marjorie would work out.

Just don't call them anything with Joy in it. It is too sad - reminds me of Jean Luc's first partner, Joylyn Yang. They were a great young team. She suffered a career ending injury.

But that pairing shows what Jean-Luc could do with a smaller partner when he was 18 or so. He is now 32.

Here they are in their first year of juniors at U.S. Nationals in 2011.

And to throw another thought in, Jean-Luc was born in the UK. He probably has British citizenship, as well as US citizenship.

I could see Zach with Hannah, but doesn't she want to continue skating for Korea?
I think with a good partner she can be more successfull under Canada and it would be difficult to find a partner on her level for Korea.
But for Ye Quan i's a different story, I believe he has a better career trajectory if he stays with Korea (if the fed will support him to find a partner), in Canada he would probably by left behind.
