Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha have ended their partnership

I’m in shock!!! LaLa!!! 😭
I wonder if they will retire or continue on with different partners.

Also, something inside me worries with all these splits, if we will lose some of our talented athletes to another country. I just want Zach to stay Canadian 🙏

Zach could skate for Algeria :) I guess.

I am not worried really about Marjorie or Zachary changing flags. They should be on top of the roster with new partners and be able to get assignments for Canada.

I'm so saddened and shocked by this news. :( Like others have said, I really thought that they were poised for a breakthrough season next year, to finally realize their potential, after a few less-than-ideal years. They are so talented, and the golden waltz would have been an excellent dance for them. Ugh. I was already taken aback by Kelly-Ann and Loucas' break-up, but this one really blew me away. Hopefully something positive will come out of all these break-ups, like some new, even better pairings. Fingers crossed!
Not sure what is going on in Canada but it looks like they are headed for another quadrennial of nothingness. They won't win a team medal. Not a lot of hope in ladies. Now pairs and dance are looking rather thin and weak. I like Lia and Trennt as people but as skaters they could be third or struggle to stay in the top ten. And rememer in dance and pairs this is even considering major retirements from major teams. LaLa still had the chance with or without CB, Psquared and or the French looked like they could even challenge ZK. Yes they have had injuries and had to modify or reuse stuff but they still have great foundations. I honestly don't know what they were not meeting of minds. Canada cannot seem to get itself out of this lull. THey are relying on the old guard other than Gogo. I can't imagine LaLa as individuals getting new partners that will do as well as LaLa right now. This is good news for theUS, Lithuania, France 2 et al.

(I need someone to tell me this is not true) FS another site is ranting about Marjorie having tryouts with Theo Le Mercier :what:
well if this is true, considering how crowded French Ice dance is, maybe Theo will finally live closer to me ;)

but yeah... in all of this musical chair mayhem, when one partner is finally available, then things get messy and other partners are left behind...

PS we already have LaLe. we cannot have them together :)
PS 2 if they indeed team up, they better have joyful costuming

Please, give me your glass sir, let me pour a bit more in it so it's half full and not half empty :)

Pairs are fine in Canada : Lia and Trennt are good. Some of the suspected new teams could be very good. And our two junior world medal winners have great presentation skills already which will help them transition to senior skating. Kemp Elizarov could be very impressive much quicker than expected.

Men :Gogo's progress is exciting. 4th in the world. He will be seeded 3rd on the GP circuit. I am enthusiastic that if he remains healthy, he could even improve his scores and rankings. He is very young.. Not quite old guard LOL It doesn't really matter to me who will be Canada's number two. There are a lot of younger skaters emerging from juniors and they will need a bit of time. Wesley was showing promise after a disastrous season marked with injuries. So no, I am absolutely no longer worried about men.

Women : that's an interesting discipline to follow this year for Canadian fans. Gabby looks stronger than ever. SMD may stabilize her 3a. Reese Rose is landing 3a in practice. Fée Ann is making progress. Minsol may finally be able to compete for Canada. Our juniors could make big surprises.

Dance : this is where my glass is less full. All the switches are overwhelming for fans. LaLe though are continuing. Maybe even Piper and Paul. So who knows what it could be. I had high hopes for LaLa... but whatever. That's life. I loved Fabbri-Ayer... that's also life. What's emerging though is that all these skaters in their mid 20s will shuffle partners and who knows, there could be one magical partnership coming out of this. Let me remind you that Paul Poirier was skating with Vanessa Crone.... they split... he teamed up with Piper... It took a while but look what happened. They found their ideal partnership and did shine with their original and wonderful story telling programs. I am not sure many are still crying over the Crone-Poirier split.

Wow....I read in their message that they just didn't have the connection and desire to continue. Ice dance is tough work and if you aren't connecting with that person who you spend many, many hours with as a source of encouragement and commitment, I think it's time to move on. It doesn't have to mean romantic, just a solid sharing of goals and values. I would guess we will see Marjorie with someone else. Zach may go off and play the piano or pursue some other dream. But, wow!

Zach is a dance major and not a music major. He was a young and talented musician for sure but at 27, he is now at the playing level of an undergrad. If he wants to pursue music, he has his work cut out for him. Not impossible, but very difficult. I have the feeling that he will still be skating.

Sad about LaLa, I really enjoyed watching them. But then I'm not a fan of intense connection between partners (or appearence thereof), which is why I always liked sibling teams. I wonder who Marjorie and Zach will each team up with? I can't imagine Zach with Alicia Fabbri, but worth a shot? Is there any Canadian male ice dancer at Marjorie's level who currently has no partner?

Zach with Hannah Lim
Marjorie with Quentin Thérien though he is not at her level yet.

Zach is 27? :wonder2:
I thought they were both in their early twenties ...
When I first saw them in competition (on TV) they were that age. The years go by so quickly, but I was surprised they were that old now also. I guess I'm conditioned by my generation. We got married at 21 and 22 and had our kids in our twenties while getting into our first "real" career jobs. Competitors even in seniors were more likely late teens or very early twenties, and then you turned pro and joined an ice show, or packed it in completely.
