2026-27 U.S. Ice Dance

Pate Bye already have two Grand Prix assignments
Thanks for pointing that out. It makes sense in terms of veteran status, if not in terms of continuing to improve, that P/B would get two spots like last season. I did not check the GP list before responding to @bckabck's mistaken comment re 'doubting they'll give P/B a second spot'.

I personally do not see much, if any, similarity between Hana Maria Aboian and Marina Annisina, in terms of looks or style. Hana is very unique, precocious, balletic, and extremely confident for her young age. I didn't see Marina when she was a very young skater,
I watched Marina Anissina grow up and for that reason she will always be one of my babies!
I personally see a lot of young Marina Anissina in Hana.

Loved this team. Loved Gwendal and his junior partner too.

Huh? Why so? Because of jealousy and ice dance vindictiveness bts? IMO, I feel less respect for Ben Agosto for the way he commented in such a snubby, negative fashion at 2025 U.S. Nationals when Neset/ Markelov were in the kiss 'n cry. It's not Agosto's business nor anyone else's business when two young people personally unknown and unrelated to us decide to get married. Neset's parents fully approved her getting married at 17. And from all evidence, Leah & Artem are very much in love. Frankly, it makes me very suspicious of Ben's motivations. While Ben himself is based at WASA in Colorado, he was formerly Tanith Belbin's ice dance partner. Thus, his gossipy comment targeting Leah & Artem while they sat in the kiss n' cry, IMO smacks of trying to cast aspersions on talented N/M for the purposes of harming them in the judges' minds, while hoping to give further advantage to their rivals in the MIDA camp. If this was not Ben's intention, he still comes off as a snobby, feckless gossip, and not a good or fair commentator.

I recall that when they were juniors, Leah & Artem were interviewed by GS. Artem spoke about having moved in with Leah and her family when he first came to the U.S. He said he fully had plans to move out on his own when he could. But, as it turned out, they all got along so well that he was embraced by her family and they all felt comfortable and happy about him continuing to live with them. His family later met her family, too, and they all get along well. I think that's wonderful. Family love and support means a lot.

Clearly, Artem & Leah ended up falling in love, which is surely the main reason why they married so young. The fact it also helps to gain U.S. citizenship faster probably had some bearing on why they married sooner than later. But I don't think they decided to marry just for citizenship reasons. I'm sure they married because they are in love and want to be together forever. Is there a 'taint' or 'stigma' on other teams like Efimova/ Mitrofanov and Lauriault/ Le Gac because getting married helped one of the partners to gain citizenship faster? There shouldn't be. I believe both of those couples fell in love, too, which was surely their main reason for getting married. Anyone fixated on Leah's age has a problem with being negative and judgmental. Such attitudes do not bode well for judgemental people's personal karma.

A career partnership in figure skating will not last as long as a committed, sincere marriage union. Bystander fans and figure skating officials need to concern themselves with their own personal affairs and try to avoid being holier-than-thou to the point of sitting in judgement on a talented and accomplished young, married ice dance team. Fortunately, I doubt that Neset/ Markelov are worrying themselves about petty gossip and nasty gossipers. They are clearly working hard, having fun, and seem fully and positively engaged in building their promising career.
💯 agree.. thank you!

I know its quite a bit before we get the host spot picks, but I would love the Peals to get the spot. I've been such a fan of them since juniors and I really think they have great potential to be a top team if they stay together.

Thanks for sharing these throwback videos. 😍 I really do not ever recall having seen Annisina perform in her youth. Of course, her early partner, Ilia Averbukh, later succeeded in seniors with Irina Lobachaeva, whom he married.

As a young skater, Marina Annisina definitely possessed a similar physicality and movement style to that of Hana Aboian. I notice that Annisina wore shorter costumes as a young skater, which reveal her long legs. When she skated with Gwendal Peizarat, Annisina had the intense red hair and she tended to wear longer skirts, which hid her leg line. Plus, her later partner, Gwendal, is not as tall as Averbukh nor as Daniil Veselukhin. As a result, for me, the similarities between Annisina and Aboian do not jump out as clearly in Annisina's later career (aside from the notable similarities in confidence, spark, speed, and carriage over the ice).

Okay dance people - what is the status of Effie Chen / Gordei Chitipakhovian ( SC of Boston / Broadmoor SC). Are they still together for 26-27?

There is a Juan Carlos Maravilla is now skating for France in dance with Emi Dufour.
This was posted in the upcoming Junior skaters thread here
Is this the Jon Maravilla that used to skate pairs with Saya Carpenter?

If so is he Detroit's new Johnny Johns - who skated both pairs and dance at US Nationals. NOT

I'm pretty sure it's his younger brother :)
I need to get them straight somehow - sometimes I see listing for Jon Ignascio Maravilla and get really confused. The guy who skated with Saya is a personal favorite of mine and he is missed. I hope to see him return in any way.

Found this https://skater-stats.com/rebecca-lichtman-juan-carlos-maravilla ; only did Intermediate dance with Rebecca Lichtman.

Then did solo dance skating for USA, where he got 2nd out of 33 skaters in a solo dance competition in France https://resultats.ffsg-csndg.org/2025-2026/INTER_SOLOS/CAT002RS.htm

Saw in another forum that Rebecca is the new partner of Blake Gilman and they will skate for Israel

On the start list for Dallas Classic Dance July 9–12 TX

also new Junior Team:
Molli TAYLORSON / Steven MOOREAll Year FSC / Connecticut Skating Academy

Judy Blumberg is Tech Specialist #1 for Junior Dance at Dallas Classic.
Some surprising leaders after the RD - three teams clearly understood the assignment.
Two others are in a tight battle a bit further back than they hoped.

Only three senior teams entered here, one from Hungary.
Going to call it a day after watching results from Dallas Dance Classic, Skate Milwaukee & US Junior Cup. Want to see how The Peals and Flores/ Colmor Jepson fare with the judges.
Just realized Shawn Rettstatt is the Controller

Interesting turn of events - the leaders of the RD for Junior & Senior are separated by 0.03 points. I won't be commenting tomorrow as I will be doing outdoor stuff.

Looked at the scores for the Dallas Classic and honestly it’s a little what I expected in concerns to a waltz. It’s still early and I think it’s smart for teams to get early feedback as we haven’t had a waltz in a long time now. Hopefully, the FD scores will be better :)
