Exhibition

 Is Sandra Bezic on crack? She just commented that McLaughlin/Brubaker's throws and lifts are unmatched on the world stage. Um, is she that ignorant of the quality of the world's best pairs or does she think the American viewing audience is on crack as well?

UGH, whose exhibition is going to be chacked by showing McLaughlin/Brubaker's flawed, held up LP again? :banging: Their side by side combo pairs spin has to be the most out of sync pairs spin I've ever seen.

anyone wanna bet Amanda and Mark won't be shown so we could see a very boring Pairs LP repeat?

and since when do US National exhibitions have a theme? Another NBC demand?

and I have a feeling Sandra's reading an NBC script. It sounds very staged.

I think you're right, Tonichelle! I would have much rather seen Amanda and Mark, such an unheralded team. Keauna and Rockne are so over-hyped, it's nauseating to me.

I don't like the themed exhibition either. The exhibition programs appear sluggish and thrown together to me, with the exception of Navarro/Bommentre as they know their program very well (their FD from last season).

Yes, Sandra's commentary seems very phoned in.

On a positive note, Meryl and Charlie are so beautiful and charming and present such a nice picture together. Charlie and the "cooties" comment made me . He's such a kidder!

I enjoyed seeing Rachael and Ashley too!

Jeremy's LP going on now... I'll bet that the Pairs AND Dance 4th place teams both get chacked to make room for these 'look backs'

I know, right? Honestly as soon as they started by saying that it was the Smucker's Skating Spectacular I was like HUH? and turned off the TV. I'm still taping it and turned it on a half hour ago but I will probably tape over it all unless they show some really nice stuff. So far it's been BLAH. This does look like those tacky Disson shows.

You just wait and see, next year they will have live musicians..

the "Skating Spectacular" (with sponsor's name tacked on) is what the exhibition has been called for a long while now... I have no problem with that.

it's the whole "everyone's skating to their rock and roll favorites" that gets me. Especially since I have a hard time believing that Ryan Bradley's all time favorite RnR number/artist is an Elvis one lol (among others) most of the skaters here are my age and younger... and they're all skating to songs from my parents' generation (not that there's anything wrong with that. I actually prefer it to the crap that's popular now)

ETA - holy cow! Amanda and Mark! Skating to Ewan !

OMG! NBC is showing Amanda and Mark?! Has hell officially frozen over?!

Yeah when they gave that description I was like You have got to be kidding. But it's nice to finally hear something nice like Moulin Rouge!

Announcer: "Ladies and gentlemen, he's a champion in every sense of the word...."

*Evan Lysacek shakes his head no in response*

Announcer: "Evan Lysacek!"

Evan is a good sport about it, you gotta give him that.

But he's channelling more Brian Boitano than Kurt Browning in the word "cool" doing this... hip hop? type program.

white boy can't dance!

ETA - ok, watching the boys backstage doing the slingshot thing reminds me of a story Steven Cousins told a few years back on his SOI blog about how the boys were backstage playing football and they broke one of the fire sprinklers and flooded the hallway...

hysterical. Ryan is a character.

It appears the 4th place dance team is going to be chacked, but otherwise NBC has managed to show the top 4 in the rest of the disciplines as well as the Junior mens' champion. After Davis/White's FD replay, they'll still need to show Alissa's LP replay and exhibition as well as Jeremy's exhibition.

why is Jeremy skating the same program he did LAST year for the exhibition (and isn't it his SP from last year?)

 Jeremy's exhibition is so cute and I'm glad he can laugh off the 2 falls. How difficult it must have been for all the men to skate the exhibition right after their LPs on Sunday. Abbott didn't need to attempt all the difficulty (3loop, 3Axel, and 3Lutz) he did in that exhibition skate, especially considering how sick he was then, but I applaud him for trying. At least he did a beautiful 3loop to make up for the one he singled in the LP. His smile is so endearing and I think he's so cute! I hope he has gotten over the bad cold that plagued him in Cleveland.

Yes, it is. I would have liked to seen him skate to something more upbeat with vocals, so that he could relax more. I don't know why he attempted all the triples he did while being so sick in that exhibition. He's gutsy, always pushing himself.

yay for Bowling Green!

well, NBC was saying it, I didn't want to feel left out.

Mroz skated to Jailhouse Rock, singled a jump... I didn't watch the whole thing, was getting something to eat...

Rachel wore the same dress (it looks anyway) as last year, skated to RESPECT and did really well. I enjoy her exhibitions more than her competitive programs, and I loved the side bun, much more flattering IMHO... she skated well.
