Fun Exhibition skates!

S& M "Hit The Road Jack"

Toller "Sabre Dance"
I couldn't find the EX version

And the Marchei Hotarek ex link is not viewable in the US. What was the music? I am hoping to find it. @NanaPat
:thank:
I found another favorite fun exhibition, so am going to chime in without being tagged. Hope everyone can see this one. It is a fan video, so one skater disappears occasionally, but it is good in general.

"Swan Luke"

I will come back and tag someone, but have to see who hasn't posted yet. Over to you, @NoNameFace

Aw, that's cute . (I would have tagged you had I known what tagging was, and had I been following this thread, which I wasn't until my name came up in the notifications. I'm skirmishing on my ballroom forum in a battle over whether the outlandish makeup is mandatory, if unspoken, and if competition beginners should trowel it on from the start or earn their place in the sequinned eyes and shellacked hair ranks. It's quite entertaining. 💄)

Thank you. I wanted to post in this thread, but wasn't sure if you had to wait for an invite or not.

Given that this thread is about Fun Exhibition Skates, I am really amazed nobody has said this one yet:

Javier Fernández - 2013 Senior World Championships EX

It took a very long time to find a copy of the debut performance of this programme which didn't have commentators talking over the dialogue!

My favourite fun exhibition programme ever. And one of my Top 5 exhibition programmes ever. I know a lot of people were getting fed up with it because Javi kept bringing it back over a long number of years, but I never got tired of watching it. Every time it was so enjoyable.

Now the tricky part. Who to tag? Because not everybody watches Galas.

Well, because I am sure she knows of some real gems from yesteryear:

I forgot to say, there are a few more programmes that I would like to add to this thread. So, if you don't mind, can I throw in another now?

Nathalie Péchalat / Fabian Bourzat - 2012 Trophée De France EX

I loved Nathalie and Fabian. And I really loved this programme.

This isn't their first time doing this programme (I think it was their third). But I picked this performance because it includes a Brucie Bonus (people in the British Isles will get that reference). Because Nathalie and Fabian won this event, they got to do an encore: a section of their Free Dance, which was a Rolling Stones medley.

I didn't notice it at the time, but this exhibition programme uses a cover version of "People Are Strange". It's a shame, because it would have been fitting to use the original version by The Doors, given that Jim Morrison is buried in Paris, where the French round of the Senior GP series was being held that season.

It is really ironic that I am posting a video from this particular event, because this was the first figure skating event that I looked into going to. So many of my favourites were competing, including my local skater Jenna McCorkell (in what would turn out to be her final Senior GP appearance). But I ultimately decided that it would work out too expensive. And I have regretted not going ever since.

Well, may I offer Dan Hollander's "Mrs. Doubtfire" program from the 2000 Champions on Ice tour? Not sure how to post the Youtube link directly here, but it's there on Youtube. :ROFLMAO::rofl:

Personally, I've always preferred to do links as part of a description, because if the person reading it is in a country where the video is geo-blocked, they have no way of finding out what the video is of if it has been embedded and the poster hasn't said what it is. (That frequently happens to me).

To get a video to embed, just paste in the address without any coding around it:

Oh, I am wrong. You don't get the full preview of YouTube videos using that method. (You can tell I don't do this often! ) Looks like you have to use the other method.

To embed a YouTube video so that it can be played within the post, you have to press the "Media" button in the toolbar, and then paste the address into the pop-up that appears. And when you click the "Continue" button, you get this:

I knew you would have some gems! That was absolutely brilliant!!!

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Whom should I tag? 🤔 Ah, @moonvine

By the way, because @moonvine's tag was edited in after your comment was posted, she won't get the notification. So, I've tagged her in here so that she will be alerted to this thread.

Dan kept everyone laughing on practice with these inspired programs.

Since the showpiece of the Formula 1 calendar, the Monaco Grand Prix, was held today, I think it would be an appropriate time to post another of the programmes I thought of when this thread appeared.

Kim Lucine - 2014 Senior World Championships EX

This was by no means Kim's first performance of this programme. He had been using it as both his Short Programme and Exhibition programme all season. For me, it actually worked much better as an exhibition programme. But for many reasons, I just had to use this particular performance of it.

Firstly, it was in Japan, where the theme of his programme originated. Secondly, it was his swansong skate. And thirdly, well, you'll see why.

A fitting end to his career.

I'm not tagged but have to offer up one of my favourite simplyfeelgood skaters and gala performances, Elladj's Balde's 2014 Move-Church-Wall to Wall (I even like the backflips, because Elladj is so joyous and endearing)

mama @labgoat here i am!

kind of predictable coming from me right? :ROFLMAO:

Totally.

That was one of the programmes that immediately came into my head when this thread appeared. But I held back from posting it because I knew you loved it and would want to go for it when you eventually made your way here.

And how timely that you post about Matteo a couple of days after I was talking about his wife in my reply to one of your posts in another thread.

Staying with the sporting theme, given that the World Cup starts in a few days (what am I going to do for the next month?! There's going to be nothing on TV! :drama:), I have to post a recent programme. But, which version? The one where Germany wins, or the one where England wins? 🤔

Ach, I'll post both!

Olivia Smart / Tim Dieck - 2026 European Championships EX
Olivia Smart / Tim Dieck - 2026 Senior World Championships EX

As you all know by now, although I did like Olivia Smart / Joe Buckland (GBR), generally speaking I haven't liked the programmes Olivia has done since she started representing Spain, be it with Adrià Diaz or Tim Dieck. Yet I absolutely love this exhibition programme. Given that both Spanish partnerships had the same setup, this probably proves the point that @dorispulaski made in another thread: that what we are seeing in the competition programmes is the choreographer, and it is only in the exhibition programme that we get to see the skaters themselves.

Going forward, I hope we get to see more of Olivia and Tim with an "e" and less of IAM.
