You beat me to it... Raise your hand if you had Chan in 9th and Kozuka in 10th after the SP - both of them behind Florent Amodio and Jialiang Wu - and Vaughn Chipeur as the top Canadian!

Yeah, me neither :eek:.

Obviously they both Chan and Kozuka fell; I would guess popped jumps or downgrades, too, because Abbott had two deductions and he's fifth. But it seems as though many of the guys were just tired.

I guess it's either fatigue or they tried new stuff.
Nothing to say until we see the competition or the protocols ...
 
Yeah, what a surprise those results! I guess it's fatigue... I'm so sorry for Kozuka :(. But I'm glad Oda did well! I really liked his SP at Worlds, glad he seemed to be able to do it here without crashing into the boards :).
 
Good job for Brian & Evan too.

Looks like Jeremy fell twice again. He is punching Johnny's ticket to the Olympics with this kind of performance. Heck of a score for falling twice though.

Does anyone know what the deductions were for? Because maybe one was for something else, like running over the time limit, in which case the score makes sense.
 
I see where Chan fell on the axel and the lutz. Jeremy fell on the axel and got the other deduction in the SLSS, must have counted as a fall.

Brian did his 4t3t, which is why he is in first.
 
Just discovered I can watch this on my phone. I'll do my best to provide PBP. Lysacek just finished and Brian is taking the ice.

I'm really surprised that Evan's results are so close to Brian's.

Also surprised that Abbott, if he had two falls, is so close to Voronov.

There's still a glimmer of medals in Oda's life.

I'm sure Chan was jetlagged but Kozuka in his home country.......

Now is the time - not so much to win -but to make amends. Amodio will steal the show.

Does anyone know if you fall on a step sequence if you get a mandatory -3 GOE?

A hand down! that'l getcha.

How much is taken off for 'hand down'? If it is not an automatic deduction, then it would seem to be left up to the individual judges to GoE minus, and we know they will vary.

btw. If Evan continues in this 'clean' program style, Baboo will have to be perfect. No?

Actually no, if Joubert goes for way more difficulty in the long let's say two quads to Evan's "No quads" And also goes for good difficulty elsewhere, Brian will be able to afford some mistakes and beat Evan.

It will be interesting to see what Joubert does in the long, although tiredness may factor into things.
 
I'm wondering if maybe Patrick isn't giving himself enough time to recover from jetlag. He blew it at GPF as well which was in Korea. I wonder when he arrived.

He just looked slow and almost lethargic out there. No energy at all. I hope he can pull it together for the long though.

Chan is as much jet-lagged as any other North American skater. Evan has a stress fracture in his foot, and still managed to turn in a good performance. Abbott managed to finish 5th in the SP despite the severe pain of a sprained finger. Chipeur finished top 6.

Chan also got the lowest PCS score of all the men. I can't help wondering if his grousing about PCS during Worlds had anything to do with that.
