Team USA Champs Camp (starting Tue Aug 21)

Best cowboy: Charlie White

Best cowgirl: I will wait until Madison Hubbell and Rachael Flatt get there before I make up my mind.

;) Hate to disappoint you, Mathman, but if I am not mistaken, the Western wear seemed to be only for shoot with the 2011 US champions.
I believe that your choices for best cowgirl are the lovely Davis, Wagner, and Denney.
[And by the way, here are a few more Western pics http://web.icenetwork.com/photos/gallery.jsp?content_id=37145750 -- thanks to Sylvia for posting the link on FSU.]

Hope for your sake that Hubbell and Flatt show up in other photos to come ...

Why do you care what his reasons are? It's just one casual group photo for Twitter. The fact that he didn't is inconsequential and not an indication of his attitude towards competition or retroactive invalidation of his complaints against the USFS. I mean, really, how much can you read into it.

I agree. Who cares if he wore the t-shirt. We don't even know if Johnny had been issued his Champs Camp attire before the picture was taken. For all we know, he arrived right before the picture was taken. I refuse to infer a bad attitude just because he was not wearing a t-shirt.

We don't know the reasons why Johnny didn't wear a team T-shirt and it's no big deal. It was the declaration and insistence that such attire was too cheap and campy for him that I was responding to, seeing that it was a camp and those with higher success in the sport didn't deem it beneath them. I note that Johnny did not make such comment himself whatever one may infer from his choice.

A little bit off topic, but here is the real River City (Nebraska) Rodeo and Stock Show, the second largest rodeo in the world. I guess the Calgary Stampede is the largest.

"We’ve got trouble…Right here in River City…That’s trouble with a T…"

I think this is the lovely Ashley Wagner competing in barrel racing.

The job of the rodeo “clowns” is to lure the bull away from the thrown rider.

Shame on me for stirring up the pot, but wonder whether we'll ever see Weir in one. Discuss ...
[Not sure whether these jackets are a brand-new version for this season???]

. @mirai_nagasu "I feel great about myself and my confidence is building. I feel really good right now" After her sp at #ChampsCamp

Well Mirai sounds upbeat. I wish her all my very best this season. :)

IN's gallery of seventeen Champs Camp photos from Wednesday: http://web.icenetwork.com/photos/gallery.jsp?content_id=37205808

All are off-ice photos, although some skaters are in costume.
#13 shows Ashley Wagner in a sparkly black dress discussing her SP with the media -- but no indication of what her SP music is.

ETA:

IN now has posted article re Wagner, Gao, Zawadzki: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120823&content_id=37206732&vkey=ice_news

Wagner SP = Red Violin

Gao SP = "Close without Touching" by Kostia

Hey whatever the reason, it got people talking.

Maybe people are talking because they remember that Weir did not wear the U.S. team jacket in a competition where he was representing USA, but a Russian jacket from the Soviet era. Maybe it is a trend with him, at all costs to differ from others?

In case of any interest:
Photo #9 is of Mirai Nagasu with her new coach Wendy Olson.
(This photo is my first time seeing them together - sorry, I didn't watch any Glacier Falls videos.)

I just don't see the attitude change Johnny proposed he's had... that's all. If he proves me wrong, that's fine, too.

Expect @JohnnyGWeir to "soar" during his "Phoenix" free skate. Weir has a great spirit during this comeback, it's fun to watch. #ChampsCamp

. @jeremyabbottpcf had his free skate music composed less than two weeks ago. He's going to take what he learned here back to Detroit.

Is this the same music Abbott tweeted about here

My long is "Bring him home" we worked all summer w/ an amazing composer from NY and ended up with and incredible, emotional version!

If yes doesn't sound as if it was that well received.

And a question about the photos put up on IN. Do the reporters interviewing them get to watch the practices? Just impatient for them to clear up the mystery surrounding the FD music for D&W.

here i go again, why no picture of Caroline Zhang.
nice to see everyone else, but i am tired of bitching about no caroline zhang when ever champ champ comes up.

nice to see michelle though.

IN has a new article up today re Dornbush, Razzano, and Weir: http://www.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120824&content_id=37254694&vkey=ice_news

The headline is that Dornbush's disappointing results at last season's Nationals and Four Continents were caused by warping of his right boot. His coach and he were unaware of the warping until after Four Continents.

An excerpt regarding Weir:

" Champs Camp is the three-time U.S. champion's first foray back into the eligible arena since the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and, all in all, he's glad to be here.

'[U.S. Figure Skating] requested I come, and it's part of our new relationship,' he said. 'I don't think I've changed, and I don't think USFS has changed -- we just accept each other and understand each other. That makes things a lot easier. They've been very supportive throughout this comeback, and I'm doing everything properly. I'm not wearing anything that says 'Russia' on it.' "
