I mean genius in the "prodigy" meaning, that is not an insult. Prodigy like Julia is rare but we would never know how much growth spurts will harm her. While Gracie might have passed that phase I think she has great chance to stabilize her style and technique without worrying too much about her weight. If you ask me is Gracie a prodigy like Julia? I would say no. But then again lots of great skaters did not start from being a prodigy either. She has lots of talents, of course.

She's still getting higher PCS than Gold, and with an error.

Gracie with mistakes would still score higher than Wagner with mistakes
Not in PCS.
Even with errors, the judges still acknowledge Wagner being the better skater of the two.

Not in PCS.
Gracie is better from a TES standpoint (granted her jumps weren't that great this SP), Wagner is better in PCS (In terms of PE,CH and IN) since Gracie still has a lot of work to do in improving her artistry/performance side.

She's done her jumps much better in the past. The 2A had a scratchy landing (and looked like it landed on an inside edge), the 3L was borderline. The 3Z was fantastic but the 3T lost flow. For her it was solid, but not the best she can do, so I was kinda surprised at the PB.
Not in PCS.
Wait, Wagner actually scored HIGHER on PCS? Damn
Yes, by only .06 though. Gracie got better marks on skating skills and transitions.

On a different note I love to watch Gracie spin. No, she's not bendy or anything, but girl stays _centered_ in her spins. Really, really centered, with her toe not appearing to move and the rest of the blade spinning around it. Just something I've always enjoyed seeing in a spin. 
Actually, I just enjoy watching Gracie skate period. She does need to develop a touch more oomph in her presentation, I guess -- except that I think she really did sell her first SP this season, and I was one of the apparent few who really liked it. This SP, while getting her better results, is indeed pretty generic, so perhaps a bit more of a challenge to find something extra in it to present. Still, I think she does herself proud and I hope she can continue to be consistent. I would like to see her atop at least a few international podiums, and I do think she has the ability to get there.

Hope Gracie skates lights out tomorrow and will show us her best jumps since that was what was lacking from her SP.

It's more important what Gracie does 2, 3 and 4 years from now rather than now. Because with Kim, Asada and Kostner retiring. She's good. Really good right now. Now let's see if she can challenge the other teens mainly Russian the next few years. I think she can.
Let's be real the top ladies in the olympics and so far in the world championships have been stellar. It's been great to see.

But she had one in the SP, which made her a contender for the OBM. She wouldn't have had that boost for the LP otherwise.
She also has Frank Carroll in her corner, as you noted--and even as her jumps have declined under his tutelage, her PCS (reputation) is bound to shoot straight up even if she's a boring skater.

Well, Gold had a great chance at a medal at these Worlds and, like Nagasu 4 years ago, let it slip away from her. I cautioned people against getting excited about her given that this very thing could happen.
Still, given her trajectory, I held out hope. I should know better than to do that with the US women these days...
