What does English have to do with it? :) I believe there are more Japanese fanfic stories around, including those rated "mature". Or there is something I don't know concerning the Internet censorship in Japan?
 
Eh, every celebrity gets RPFed these days. Not keen on it myself (now fanfiction of fictional characters is another matter lol), but he is hardly the only one. As long as they don't send 'em to him. Any celebrity learns fast not to google themselves.

Anyway, I have recently got into FS much more after I got Eurosport after the Olympics and I am in love with this kid. Love his style, love his passion, love his sweet way in the kiss and cry, love his smile. My real fave of the men- along with Takahashi and Fernandez.

I have been watching a few YT vids of his past competitions. Are there any particular videos or articles of/about Yuzu that you would rec of exhibitions or interviews etc for a newbie fan? Thanks in advance! :)
 
I don't know why people try to see him as a five year old or some kind of monk and expect him to go through some horrible shock if he ever sees something inappropriate. He's 19, not 9, and he's from Japan with all their yaoi and stuff, and with that pretty face of his it's kind of expected that all the fujoshi will be after him. If he ever sees anything of this kind, he might be like 'Yuck, gross, couldn't they pair me with Aya Ueto' or he'll laugh like an idiot and then keep thinking about quads. Yes, he has a Pooh bear and all, but I'm a bit surprised people see him as so naive.

well I agree that surely isn't as innocente as many seem to think, but I must say that if I were in his shoes the idea of having that KIND of fan fiction wrote about me would quite gross me out... (while maybe I would find entertaining some more harmless thing in a creepy kind of way)

Well, I guess I'm allowed to find this kind of fandom weird without thinking the kid will get scarred for life by it ;) maybe he's aware, maybe not. maybe he cares and maybe he doesn't. I don't know. I still find it weird to include real people in your online porn fantasies (not only when it comes to the kid but in general)

just for the record: there are actually still people who are not aware of this kind of thing ;) me and some friends once attended a lecture about pop culture and fandoms - and I pretty much had to translate for them. the professor kept talking about different aspects of fan fiction culture and just assumed that everybody was familiar with it... well, they weren't, but they were pretty shocked when I tried to explain things in a short and direct manner (it was pretty funny, actually)... and my friends don't exactly live in a convent either.
(note: I'm not saying that Yuzuru is like this. I'm just making a point.)

so much passion and i think its really one of the breaking points in his career, albeit not the best, technically clean performance of this program. theres such a bold edge of rawness he adds into this performance and its really really really wonderful (ps beware of 2:28 mark lol)

Agreed. I'm not into it at all, but it's been going on since forever and I don't think it's going to stop. When I started getting into skating a few years ago, the popular subject was the "Quad Squad," Johnny, Stephane, Brian, and Plushy, in various couplings. :laugh: And not only skaters...any cute athletes, boy bands, etc. are bound to be fodder for someone's overactive imagination. Based on what I see on Tumblr, I think most of the authors are in their teens themselves. (At least I hope so.)
 
I don't think of Yuzuru as a five years old child, especially after watching all of his amazing interviews with such mature and thoughtful answers. However, given his natural childish personality, his incredible focus for skating, his family education, the lack of social media in his daily life (doesn't have social network, phone (maybe not now), and he did say among all TV shows he watched Nihon news the most - that's from a few years ago though)... I think I'm allowed to think of him as a more innocent boy than most of the other 19 years old one. Beside, knowing about something's existence with actually experiencing it can be totally different. I only want him to be able to avoid things that even myself can't stand.

My fav exhibition of Yuzuru is Change (beside Hana ni nare and Somebody to love). Both at Nagoya and SOI.

There's a great video channel that uploads the most recent news/shows featuring Yuzuru on dailymotion in HD. :biggrin: Here's the link, and the person also uploaded most of the SOI Tokyo gala.
 
I think Yuzuru probably already get used to it. Since most of the FS fans in Japan are middle-age women (sorry to say but) some of them are a little bit nutty.
As they are the main source of income for Japan's FS(tix are insanely expensive), can't really do anything with them.
