Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

【news】Yuzu is invited as Tourism Ambassador by Sandai officially.

After Parade (4/26), Yuzu's next stop is to take photos at studio. He is invited as Tourism Ambassador by Sandai government today.

It is supposed to be the direct contribution that he always hopes to the hometown. Another busy day to him, yet glad to see his face with lights up. :agree:

at studio: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=633070596780353&substory_index=0&id=409080195846062

Thanks echotpe. So we can expect to see Yuzuru in Sendai's tourism brochures. :)

Yes, and he is in the 10th in men column in general. I suppose some granddads like him as much as some grandmas.
For a kiddo with almost zero sex appeal, 2th place of being favoured by women in general is awesome. =))) Still couldn't get over the fact women in their 50s like him the most.

I guess 10s column also represent teenagers from 7-14 years old. It's understandable they like him because he looks like a character from manga. I guess from 15 to 30, they think some folks like Benedict Cumberbatch or Tom Hiddleston are hotter.

Thanks Meoima. Well from the survey it seems that Yuzuru is generally popular with (ahem) the mature crowd who generally have greater purchasing power so advertisers may take note of that.

In general the target that most advertiser look for is 18-49. After that you will segment depend on product.

Af Meoima said he is popular with women 30-50 wich means Ajinomoto and P&G are probably ok in their investment.

Also as you pointed out middle age people (up form 30) are the ones with the most money, so probably ANA is ok too, and mostly they are getting lots of free publicity because press is crazy about Yuzuru now, you will want to see how much free coverage they are getting just because they are vincuated to Yuzu and made and evaluarion on the investment.

And finaly what is good for Yuzuru as a brand is that he is being liked for different "family" profiles wich means that family brands would be smart to invest in him.

Somebody pointed out that Figure Skating is mostly popular with mature women in Japan, but the OGM and Worlds have helped Yuzuru to have a broad appeal and that´s only good.

My master is in mkt so I know a little ;)

Edit.

I want that toy :(

EDIT 2
Meoima does Mao or any other sportmen/women appear in the survey?

I would like to know how japanese people perceive all these events concerning Yuzuru Hanyu. From abroad, we feel a growing fervor but what is the real in Japan ? If people who live there can add their testimony.

Additionnaly, Echotpe or anyone else, can you give us the words that the prime minister and Hanyu said during de ceremony ? I search on fanblogs, but I don't find it. Same thing on Youtube/Dailymotion.

Yes, with men, Mao is in the 2nd place of being favourite (equal to Yuzuru being 2nd in the women column) and with women Mao is in the 3rd place right behind Yuzuru. It's understandable since she has been famous for many years. And she is adorable. I guess they will be very sad if she retires this year.

^Thank you Meoima.

As you can see Mao doesn´t appear in 20s segment either, as you say this generation maybe is more in to occidental kind of figure.

But Mao is way popular with older men (kind of creep me out to be true) and in the other segments for women.

In other countries figure skating is only popular for the Olympics (so that´s why Meryl and Charlie need to milk that Gold Medal cown right now), but in Japan is really popular and since Yuzuru is sure he is not gonna to retire brands will look to invest in him now, even if Mao is so popular if she decide to retire she will not get as much exposure as she gets now so that´s a think to consider as a marketing and advertising decision.

First of all biiiiig thanks to everybody who has shared links and infos, you guys are awesome!

this... is... :jaw: insane! ... for once I'm just speechless

But he really looked like he was enjoying himself :) Good for him! I always have my doubts how much fun all those official events and the "you have to do this"-PR-thingies are. But this looked like he was really just having fun. I'm happy for him, he so deserves it.

btw: love that they hired Gogo Yubari Security
(if you don't know what I mean: this)

thanks for all photos and links! Yuzu will remember this memorable day forever!
He is definitely a Sendai hope and symbol! A kid on a mission!:points:

:jaw:http://skate-sendai.com/ (cr. to Lanvin from yuzuform)

Together on Ice (Love the name btw) looks like a Sendai/Yuzuru special and I LOVE the artistes listed! All of them are J-rock/pop so maybe Yuzuru handpicked them? And Javier's going to be there too! And Tomas!! Oh my...if this show does well, will Yuzuru be having his own ice show too? lol

Now it’s time to have some fun Together on Ice!
So happy Javi will be there!

Yuzu should definitely skate to Back Number Superstar!!!

OMG this is so funny! I can't stop laughing!! Apparently they made some survey in Japan, about people's favourite celebrities. You can see the result in the chart below. His name is marked with blue underline.

Yuzuru does not belong to the top 10 most favourite men of women in their 20s. It's understandable. He is too boyish. He has sex appeal of a slide of bread. Lol!!!

But with girls in their 10s, he is in the 5th place of being favoured. So he said little girls like him a lot, it's so true.
Women in their 30s place in the 9th place.
Women in their 40s place him in the 7th place.
Women in their 50s place him in the 1st place.:rofl: So apparently Yuzuru is their favourite son.
MEN in their 60s place him in the 7t place of being favoured. Some granddads want to have a child like him, I guess.
Women in their 60s place him in the 2nd place.

I AM SO AMUSED BY THIS CHART!!!

just curious, this survey is about athletes popularity or celebrity in general?

Japanese love fun events, as you can see by those cheerful faces at the parade :agree:
Of course there are always some who are not satisfied.

One thing very special about him is that he has both male and female fans (needless to say, more female fans ) I think his affable and clever comeback may be contributing to it. In any case, he is a star for everyone here.

I'll try the translation.

PM: (To the athletes) You gave Japanese people such sensation and courage. Here, I would like to express sincere appreciation to you all on behalf of our people.

Yuzuru: With the testimonial given by the Prime Minister today as my pride, I would like to devote myself further every day to achieve better results with good performance.

His words and phrases are very formal. I suppose someone might have advised him.

Well, as the one who is actually living in Japan, I'm quite sure many won't agree with what one poster on FSU wrote: he doesn't have sex appeal of slice of bread.;) IMO why he keeps attracting so many women fans is he has many different faces.

He is Japan's favorite son and brother but not their favorite boyfriend! Don't worry your international fans love you so much!

When they combine all the votes of people from 10s to 60s, he is placed 2nd in general in women's favourite column, and 10th in men's favourite column. A national treasure it seems. It's true that he has the "good son/brother" vibe.

I've seen a comment to that effect around here too,
but for once I had been able to hold my tongue

Oh well. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Luckily it is ok that we're all attracted to different things

Thx SuzyQ ! Right, he had a briefing before to prepare what he will say.
