Once I view my own performances I understand my weaknesses. As I thought my posture and positions are still poor. Especially since I have been able to become good at my jumps to a certain level, it is a waste if I do not improve in the other areas. After the Olympics, many people around me told me that if I am able to improve in my posture and performance I could be unbeatable. I want to tackle this properly. As a concrete step I would like to learn ballet. For something that can only be changed gradually, I want to move forward even if it’s one step or two steps at a time.

Well I´m from Latin America, so in our countries touching between men and women is very normal, but in other coountries contact between them is not acepted unless there is a personal relationship between them

In Asia in the ancient time, especially in Japan, Korea and China, men and women are not supposed to touch each other unless they are kin (husband and wife, parents and children, siblings). But now it's quite open. We are not that close-minded anymore. But there are still quite a distance between 2 genders. And Asian people don't have the habit of hugging. Now and then they hug of course since we are living in the modern time, but not as much as Western people.

Oh, I see what your question means. I am from Asia, but not Japan. So probably our Japanese friends could answer your question with more insights. Personally, I feel that the private space of Asian people is larger. We don't touch the opposite sex unless we are truly very close.

For example, just my personal feeling:
Level 1: not touching anywhere - common between friends

(Honestly, these pic have stirred quite a controversy on Chinese social media especially the 2nd and 3rd link - I personally think that Yuzu was drunk [edit: I know he is not, just saying that the situation seems a bit out of normal expectation] while taking those photos...Yuzu fans think Li is showing off by posting all those pics and writing something ambiguous on her SNS while Li's fans blaming that it is Yuzu who is initiating in the first place - this mess lasts even till now... One of reasons that lots of Chinese Yuzu fans prefer Kanako to Li is that Kanako is maintaining a very appropriate distance with Yuzu.)

But celebrities and artists (usually those perform a lots on stage) are exceptions - they do get very close (e.g., hugging, doing bisous, etc.) when taking a photo. Maybe because they get used to narrowing their private space at work.

I don't really see anything wrong with this picture and their poses. Maybe it's just in my culture. But I've heard a lot of opinions that Yuzu doesn't look and act like a typical Japanese, not in a bad way at all. He's way more open and care-free, this behaviour might be like nothing for him- he probably doesn't even care how he stands with Li taking photo, cause he knows her well enough because they made a lot of photos together already.

Yep, just last week, Li posted another photo of yuzu and her at the gala after-party and that stirred another round of internet fan battle. She was writing something like ''where, when, and how was this photo taken? I can't remember it at all''. Yuzu fans are like it was you who posted it, how come you don't know where, when, and how. And it was almost 4 months after the gala, why the hell bring this up again. Li fans are again blaming Yuzu getting way too close at Li. Now Li seems to have deleted this pic. But this one is still on her SNS.

Lol come on that is just ridiculous, because first of all, this was at the banquet. Second, they wouldn't serve it to him because he's a minor. And Yuzuru has also been very close with Team China (males and females alike) All the pictures he's taken with Li is very close and playful. He would always make silly faces and funny poses with her, like he does with Han Yan and Song Nan. Everyone needs to chill out.

Guess that is also what agitates some Yuzu fans (envious? since one can't deny it was him who is initiating while with other girls, it was usually the girls initiating) and some Li's fans as well. Yan Han and Nan Song wouldn't count as they are men. Bromance is always welcome by fans on both sides.

Well, like I said, those rules won't be applied to other nationalities. If one party in the pic is clearly from another culture, fans won't care too much about the space between the two.
And that is just my own summary of rules based on my observations on what is going on in those fan battles on the internet.
Let's just wait for our Japanese friends here to give you more insight. I am not in the right place to answer your initial question anyway.

Yes, I prefer to think this way as well. But I can understand why this is making some Yuzu fans envious - just compare photos of Yuzu with other girls and one will probably notice those tiny differences (there is no space in between from up to down with Li).

I think fans tend to overanalyze photos searching for "hints". A whole relationship with a person doesn't show up on a single photo, unless it's something really overboard But maybe I don't think it's a big deal because i'm also from Latin America. As another person already said, there's cultural differences, here you can post a photo with a guy kissing your cheek and/or hugging tighly and there's a really high chance that people will still label you and the guy as just friends.
