Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

@sajoya - Exactly, he's an athlete. So let him do whatever rocks his boat. Don't be nitpicking every little thing about his choice of music, FP layout and costumes.

And he's bound to have injuries no matter what, because guess what sweetheart, he's an athlete.

People do get in the heat of things but before you realize it, they'll get over it. I'm pretty sure they don't truly mean it. As his fans we can't help but to be critical sometimes. He's after all an athlete, not an idol. So of course, now and then we'll be questioning things, but mostly b/c as his fans, we care for him ;)

Pretty sure people here do really mean what they write. Being critical is fine, but judging before you even saw the whole thing or endless exaggerating less so.
And I don't mean to attack anyone with that, and certainly not you. But reading through the last pages of this thread is... depressing. Although that may partly be because those who complain are the loudest...

Yes, it is tiresome now. Just you wait for Finlandia and his FP costume! There will be hordes of people nitpicking and complaining on this thread. You can bet your life on it.

Sadly nobody would bet against that to happen. It's especially weird, since costumes are pretty much unimportant. Yes, it's part of the packaging and great costumes are better than bad ones, but if the rest is fine, I couldn't care less about what he wears.

Even better: last season, when his layout was way harder than in 2011-12 and 2012-13, he had less injuries than both seasons before that! Again, while peopple were all like "he's so going to kill himself with that layout".

Well, I have no problem with Phantom, just worried about his body and injuries, but I guess he has been killing himself in practice already.

I feel so old, like an auntie. Of course whenever he has it hard we are worried. I hope he will stay in the field for long enough, at least until after 2018 you know. I wish him all the best. As long as he's satisfied.

I have no problem with POTO either. But can't help wondering how many skaters want to change their music now (esp.male skaters)!

Actually, I'm in the middle of reviewing page 127 of this thread when Yuzu revealed his LP layout in August last year....it's quite entertaining I must say :sarcasm:

For this year's LP, I wasn't too excited when I first saw the announcement of the music choice, but as soon as I saw the news clips with Yuzu in action I couldn't wait to see the finished program (2 months count down):yay::yay:

I have no problem with Phantom either I think its a character he'll be able to portray well; there's a lot of depth, and he IS scary and fierce on ice. This reminds me of when people were saying hana ni nare was like hana wa saku; but I don't think these programs are actually similar at all; they might look similar on the surface (dramatic, or flower in the song title) but really they come from different places, and are different in their nuances and expression. And there are brilliant moments in all his programs.
I was hoping for a fun program too, but there's many seasons to come. And you can't be disappointed that he can't read your mind; the only mind he should read when it comes to artistry is his own.

I love all his costumes except RJ2 (because of the spray paint gradient) and Z(kinda pale?) I was surprised when people didn't like NDP, the gradient was beautiful and reminded me of SE costume. I love glitter and frills, as long as its not boring i love it :D (and it definitely won't be boring)
I think were allowed to say what we like and don't like; just remember to keep calm and believe in yuzuru:)
Being positive is a lot more fun than being worried:) He totally blew my mind and exceeded any expectations(I mean this stuff wasn't even on my radar, I was only thinking of 4Lo) he shouldn't get flack for being better than our puny minds.

Actually I just realized 4T3T isn't so risky- because of the new (zayak) rules, even if he doesn't manage even a 1L, it won't be 0 points like it used to be right? just a knock on the base value, and with the rest of his jumps, he'd still win. and he can move-L-3S to the Ltz if the world ends and he messes up the 3A.

Yuzu doing Pilates workout. Pilates is very good for asthma patients.
Pilates was a sickly child and suffered from asthma, rickets, and rheumatic fever, and he dedicated his entire life to improving his physical strength.
Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength, develops control and endurance in the whole human body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, and developing a strong Powerhouse, and improving coordination and balance.

 Damn why'd I go and read that; its like when I can't resist comments (Protip: don't read youtube nationals lp 2012 comments)
It starts out with twizzles and ina bauer appreciation so I thought 'this isn't so bad' but then it dissolves into EvilCanadians(TM) (it frustrates me because I think its not giving Yuzu enough credit; he's not powerless, he probably has a plan to take over the world and his layouts and programs are his decision and a big part of it:biggrin: ) (and didn't he say in that documentary, he is the one that picked RJ2 because of his hometown?) Some of its funny looking back though because 101.45:laugh:

Lets have positivity circles in addition to prayer circles to stop ourselves from being overcritical (not blind love, just not too much criticism) because 12 months later, we might be looking back at pg603 ;)

sorry for all the essays after being silent for so long:o:

Nationals 2012 was... really quite upsetting to read the comments about, yeah.

I think it's hard not to get swept up in negativity if you're surrounded by other people being negative. But at the same time, it's the off season so fans are antsy, kind of on-edge, waiting for any information, and if what information they get doesn't immediately satisfy, I think it's understandable to feel let down. But in the end, we're all here in his Fan Fest for a reason.

I don't think it's right to tell other fans that they can't be even the least bit disappointed, and I don't think healthy and non-malicious (which it definitely isn't) criticism is bad. I get that the comments like "I'm so disappointed in him" or "Another POTO again???" are frustrating and don't really invite discussion, but at the same time, if he produces a great program, it will be great to see people's change in reaction, and you can say "We told you so! :p"

I for one am undecided on the music, optimistic about the program, and, as always, glad to see how much ownership he's taking of his career.

I swear this will be the last time I will post about this, not with anger but I think some people here take other people comment out of proportion.

Many people are a bit disappointed about his music choice not the program. No one have seen the program yet so it is possible to say if it is good program or not. He might end up with a really really good program or else, no one can tell. On another hand, discussion about the choice of music could be done, because people know already what will be his new music.
It might be good and it might suit him well, but what wrong with some fan wishing that their favorite skaters who have so mush artistic potential could try some music that is more fresh? (anyway I'm really happy that he choose the music he like). No one say he is horrible skaters or that they will not support him anymore just because he doesn't choose the music that (I/we/whoever) want, or that since we support him he must submit to every need of ours so please do not act like it is.

And for real, those who is worried about his layout (which I'm not, I'm more worried about myself when watching him skate) seems to care genuinely for him, so I don't understand the nitpicks here.

Of course, he can live the life he want and he doesn't have to respond to all the fan needs because the fan doesn't own him. But it doesn't mean that anyone who is his fan must or should be happy with his every decisions. As long as they keep presenting their opinion in a polite, non-aggressive way and not nitpick on stupid thing like a certain Chan fan did last season saying his costume will make him lost the gold bla bla bla then ,personally, I don't think there should be any problems.

I saw some post earlier that suggest anyone who is unhappy should leave, I think if the thing continue like this I will. Not because I'm disappointed with Yuzuru's skating but because the people attitude here have started to become more more like "worshipers" making him more and more like an untouchable figure.

One thing is clear is that people here just love Yuzuru and his skating.

As treeloving says, "as long as we keep presenting our opinion in a polite, non-aggressive way," it is free to talk about his program including his music choice or costume. I even enjoy the difference in opinions.

Some people may be worried too much about his layout of the program, some may dislike his taste of costume, but the other may love it. It's perfectly fine. We all know that is because we love him, and it is perfectly OK with us if he is happy.

Just enjoy the talks about him. After all, I think what we can do is to pray for him a health and success.

He will give us a dream moment whatever wish we have in mind

 I agree with your last point a lot. We've seen Hanyu be on other end of this kind of ""worshipping"" a few times, where he was the one criticized because he was an "enemy" to others' untouchable favourites.

Non-malicious criticism is healthy, it keeps an engaging dialogue, and it doesn't alienate other fans.

^Sorry if we upset you treeloving
Its like a cycle of getting upset :bang:
criticism is definitely good and of course its ok to be disappointed- we have high expectations because we're fans:)
wanting positivity doesn't mean there's any worshiping going on.

Once again I fail to see the problem  Maybe it’s me, maybe I’m just a bit slow. I don’t know what kind of bitching contest might be going on on tumblr or twitter or whatever, but in this thread people are actually fairly reasonable. Sure, some of us are less than enthusiastic about this latest news. So what? People are allowed to have different opinions. And it’s kinda presumptuous to tell people they should keep their opinion to themselves because it differs from your own. I sure don’t run around and tell people that they should not like his choice of music just because I’m not sold on it yet. (I’d have a lot to do if I tried this strategy with his costumes  if I had to convince everyone that all that bling is totally awesome... that would be a full-time job)

Nah, give it time, this will blow over within a few pages =) it happens every once in a while (you’ve been here way longer than me. I take it this is a new "problem"?)
But as long as they don’t put up a sign in front of the Fan Fest, saying "From here on out no opinions allowed", I think no one should be discouraged from sticking to her/his views. And the number of people who actually want to indulge in total worshipping is negligible. Most of us are still okay with healthy discussion, even in the Fan Fest, because most of us accept that opinions and tastes may differ and are able to convey this in a polite manner. Sometimes things get a bit heated, but usually it all cools down fairly quickly.

Here you go:

"Cricket skaters" - P.S : why is yuzuru’s standing pose even more elegant and gracefull than the girls (LOL)
