Russian Test Skates 2014

I agree, IF she can get the presentation/components with that.
Seems like Adelina is going for the dramatic, over emotional, it's-so-artistic route with her "Je suis malade", which is not meant in a bad way, if she lands her jumps she could sell the program brilliantly!
Elena said that her programs are, again, aiming at making her look more mature. ..
So I think it would be a great idea for Yulia to show sth light and fun, as long as she can sell it :)
But we'll have to wait until we hear about the FS music...

Some new about the test skates:

acc. to the Russian forum Anna, Elena and Alena skated well (though Alena had only 3T-3T)
Adelina skated the program without the jumps
Maria and Julia had problems with their jumps (problems not specified)
Liza had no triple-triple(
Nicole didn't skate because of injury.

To be fair her 3T-3T is one of the best... +GOE when she nails it

I'm curious to see Alena's results this season. I'm glad she skates on in spite of the Russian young-ladies-hype. No other senior lady that 'old' is still competing internationally for Russia, right?

Yes but doing 3T-3T is very impractical, because she can't put there another 3-3 (unless the second jump would be loop and she can't do that), nor she can do 2A-3T because she would have too many toe loops. So the other combinations will be only with doubles.

OK, I understand. I'm not good at planning the highest value of tech programs :) Maybe she needs another 3-3 combination then. I suppose two 3-3 combinations is a must for Russian lady skaters. Anyway, couldn't Alena also do a 3-loop-3 combination?

LOL, it's just that I'm rooting for her... Love her style.

Apparently not since we are discussing costumes... the season better get here quickly before we start debating hairstyles

Though I actually like the costume discussion -- someone want to start a thread?

Well you could start one yourself too right?

The majority Russian seniors ladies who competed at Russian nationals have either two 3-3 combinations, or one 3-3 and then one 2A-3T combination. If she wants to have two 3-3 combinations (or one 3-3 and 2A-3T), she needs to use the toe loop only as a second jump in combination. She is allowed max two toe loops, so that means that the first jump of her 3-3 needs to be something else. That's the reason why she desperately needs 3F-3T, because then she can do also 2A-3T or repeat again 3F-3T. Leonova's problem is that edge jumps are her weakest point. She struggles with Salchows and loops. She lands some here and there, but if she can, she avoids them. Take notice, her SP is usually without edge jumps except of the compulsory axel, and her FS had as few Salchows and loops as possible. (sometimes she falls on them, sometimes she doubles them and very rarely she actually lands them). To have a program with seven triples like to majority of Russian senior ladies have, she needs to have every triple in her program at least once, so she needs the Salchow and loop too. There is not much point getting 3F-3T combinations if she ends up doing only five or six triples. So she needs to work on that.

Alba posted a link to an interview with Lipnitskaia on fsuniverse, here is the link to the full article I pulled out the most interesting things (IMO)

I was lucky to switch to shows right after the Olympics, it was like cooling down. The Olympic preparation and training slowly faded away. Shows gave me a lot in terms of connecting to the music. I changed. I want to grow professionally.

Love this!

I also switched from Risport skates to Jackson, and it feels completely different, we even had to adjust my jump technique a bit. But these skates are better for me. I jump a little bit higher. The boots are more rigid and push me out more.

Explains why there was reports that she had issues with jumps at the test skate.

About men test skate, we have only Kovtun word about Kovtun.

About the new programme run through
In order to skate free I need time to practice it. But some things are already working. For instance during the test skate I was quite nervous, but skated freely. I did almost everything - 2 quads and the other element. I skipped on spin and some steps which are still not perfect. I didn't want to ruin the general impression of the programme. I do 2 quads in the SP - Salchow and toeloop and 3 in the LP - Salchow and 2 toeloops.

Someone tell me something about Gachinsky, please!
