Yulia Lipnitskaya

Yeah, lutz may be a problem and I hope not a very big one. Some "Yulia's supporters" immediately declared "obvious flutz" (alongside with "weird technique"). I made a snapshot directly at the take-off moment. She takes off from a flat blade. Then technically it is ! rather than e (and for sure not "obvious flutz"). But with all these new rules and potential tough times the judges could give her and Adelina after Sochi she might be willing to try to push her lutz a bit further. I think, she will have a wonderful SP, though. And she is still one of a kind.

Well. Comparing to other skaters, she really put more effort.
About the Lp, I think it's okay if she will redo the Juliet programs. After all it's not Olympic season and she still has time to breath until next year, when all the wonder babies come to age. This year is not that serious I think.

I'm ok with that program as well. If they can't make a new one which is a pity really.
This year though it's important for her. She needs to establish herself as number 1.

p.s. I agree with you Samkrut.

I just watched her SP  Even with the trouble on the flip that was great. It already seems better than her SP at this time last year.

IMO, the best SP I've seen so far - as programs - are Yulia's and Tuk.
Leonova's would be third becuase there is a lot of mimicking. So, I'm not quite sure what I feel about that.

It's not easy to go against Adelina with bigger jumps, since even though Adelina might not be consistent, she usually does well in National. I think as long as Yulia secures her no.2 in national and does well international, no one in Russian Fed dare to write her off.

Did the end of Adelina's skate remind anyone of a little girl in a red coat running from oppression

Oppression by fanatics of certain queen I suppose. :rolleye: If I were Adelina, I would image myself being chased by those fanatics, no need to fake any emotion. I would get Oscar on ice for sure.

I'm speaking about programs only, in terms of choreo. I haven't see Adelina's SP yet, except for the exh number.
I think the test skate, and at this time of the year, should serve to see that. Not how well you jump etc.
There is plenty of time, for all of them, to get in top form.

Ah, yes. Yulia usually has better choreography. She is an excellent mover, very natural, no forced. It's not something you can learn. I an see many type of choreography will shine if it's Yulia who is performing. :)

Still I am so worried! My babies haven't showed up with full LP yet!!! :bang: I hope they will get in top form when the season starts. So much worries!

Yep, the LP might be a bit of a problem. She should've never wasted time on something which she knew, felt, wasn't for her from the start.

"Support from audience ("Yulia, my tebya lyubim!") is very important for skaters, even for some great ones."
She said: Of course, even the super-professional sportsmen, who perform in international competitions, pay attention to what happening around them. And your support and applause - Yulia, we love you - are priceless.
Thank you! :)

I love Yulia's SP....she is actually moving in tempo really well despite the naysayers...now if she can bring some fiercer expressions to her face...she'd be perfection.

RE: "like at competition"
People who were at the test skate yesterday said that atmosphere changed completely when it was time of girls' warm-up. Like it wasn't just open skate, but real confrontation. Adelina was doing one jump after another, Yulia was looking at her time to time yet was very confident too, and all girls were concentrated and skated really fast.

Oh boy. There will really be blood in Russia at Nationals.
Bring it on.

Thanks for the inside info. ;)

The hunger game already starts!

I keep posting it :slink:

But given the context here..considering the heightened level of intensity take a look at 1:24 again. I hope that is the quality we get from Yulia this year. 2a with three intractate positions on her exit. GOE anyone? She knows how to be competitive. Maybe as much as anyone when it's time to shine.

My question is this....no 3-3 today? Was it supposed to be after the 3f? If so I'm kinda bummed because she never got edge calls on her 3z-3t in the SP last year and why not start with a spin followed by a StSeq like Evgenia and Serafima to maximize the points by saving all jumps for the last half? Her 2a in the test skate I think was a bit rushed due to the error in her 3f which messed the timing up at the end. The more I watch the program the more potential I see but what is the final layout?

@Sam: I think you're reading too much into that test skate.
The program is very good. The best she's had so far, and when the time is right, and she skates like she knows, it will be the best.
Believe me. It has a huge potential.

I'm worried about the LP instead.

It's true. it's just test skate and most skaters are not in their top form. It's her LP that we should be worried. I think her SP is great already.

That's the first time ever that I saw her fall on a 2A! Seriously the first time may it be training, warm up or competition!

Of course a fall like that, 5 seconds before she has to start, while being announced as Champion of this and champion of that and having all eyes on her then, can shake her up mentally.
Maybe that's part of the reason why it all looked so unsure.

But anyway it's just a test skate, we all agree on that :)
