2014 Nebelhorn Trophy

Alexander Johnson. Now here is a young man that can skate. I know that everyone loves Jason Browns joie de vivre but Alexander is smooth and performs every bit as much but I feel in a more mature and refined way. Marvelous blade work. I will be keeping an eye on this one. The US is lucky to have these two.

Yeah I second that feeling about Alex's skating. Just beautiful.

Well Jason has some work to do. That's pretty low TES....but that PCS 85+ As a fan I'm thrilled, but I think I would've been fine if he was more in the low 80s. He did seem relatively tight. On the other hand, he did keep the performance level high.

Jason's costume must go too. This is not Tristan, it's Robin Hood or Peter Pan.

Yeah, it was a bit happy fairy tale to me. Not tragic enough.

Maybe if they ripped the shirt and put some dirt and blood stains. . . made it looks like he has fought a hard battle and is still fighting. It needs more grit for lack of a better way to put it.

Brezina got 10 points PCS lower than Brown... To be honest I don't understand it. I think Brezina's program, choreography and performance were pretty good. Points gap should be smaller.

Wow, I am a fan of Balde! Love his interpretation of this tango, especially through his upper body.

How wonderful for Jason. TONS of room to grow in this skate, but there were some really strong moments too. I wonder if his loop was before or after the halfway point. It seems a little strange to me that he would do four jumping passes before the bonus, but hey. Also adding the tano variation to his lutz/salchow combo was mighty impressive.

Is this Jason's first senior international win?

Brezina's choreography is VERY empty though. Not a lot of stuff in-between the jumps. Probably could argue for a smaller gap in IN/PE though.

With his hair, costume and music Jason is full on aspecting Philippe Candeloro and I L O V E it.

Yeah I'm watching the livestream link provided by the ISU website. And I though Jason was really good. It wasn't as explosive as normal. And when I saw the technical score, I was like, "Ouch." Needs to clean up a little bit.

Also, not a fan of the tan tights. IMO a darker color would have looked better.
