Madison Chock & Evan Bates are my absolute favorites and I've been their fan since forever - since I discovered ice dance, that is. There are many wonderful teams in the world that I enjoy for many reasons, but Chock & Bates are special in a way that cannot be compared. They have everything that I want in ice dance: class, charm, boundless creativity, both intricacy and clarity, with lovely personalities to top it off. The unveiling of new programs each season is like Christmas morning for me. I haven't liked too many of the decades themed RDs, but I can always count on them to make a RD that I will actually want to rewatch.
I will miss them dreadfully when they retire, but now I'm confused because I thought it was confirmed that they plan to retire at the end of this season but the lady with the microphone who stopped them to ask them a question didn't seem to think so, and they did not correct her. Have you heard anything?
Christina & Anthony have one of my favorite RDs as well. I liked it as soon as they performed it at Summer Sizzler. I haven't liked all of their CDs in the last few years, but I think their skating has great qualities. So strong and beautiful; they have the kind of grace that comes from power, something I associate with Madison Hubbell & Zachary Donohue. I don't understand why they haven't received many levels for their pattern type steps this season when they have been so good at this in the past. I remember them getting level 4s early in the season in the past - but maybe that was for real pattern dances and not whatever they are doing now, I would have to check. I hope they fight back in the second half of the season!
