When I read the thread title ("Sea games 2017"), I thought that we were talking watersports!

How do they maintain enough attention for this sport in tropical countries? It sounds interesting.
They don't. There's verrrrryyy little attention to figure skating here. Most South-East Asian nations have 1-2 rinks in the entire country, and most - if not all of them - are in malls. I think it's likely Philippines has the most love, and that's because Michael Christian Martinez was the first SEAsian figure skater to make it to the Winter Olys in 2014.
