10 Musical Performers that Make You Ill

And...WHITNEY! When she came on the scene, she really was something. But now she uses her voice like a whip--"I DARE you to not worship me!

I couldn't have said it better. I find her very sad, too.

The arrogance of stardom has ruined Whitney and Celine, in my opinion.

Princess, let us know about the storms.

Granny, I'm fine. Lincoln got clobbered, but Omaha was spared. :D

Now back to the bad music....

The one song that makes me absolutely ill, that I will fling myself across the bed at 5 am to kill the radio if the stupid retro station chooses to play it (and I've mentioned this song before, there really is no worse song) is "Mmmm Mmmm" by Crash Test Dummies. All copies of this song should be destroyed so that future generations aren't tormented by it....

Laura :)

The arrogance of stardom has ruined Whitney and Celine, in my opinion.

I definitely agree about Whitney. She was so incredible in the 80s and then she did such a great job on "The Bodyguard" soundtrack. But, I think that "I Will Always Love You" was so enormously popular and well received that it finally pushed her ego into the stratusphere. Too bad!
As for Celine, I don't really see that. She has always had a somewhat strange (I would say eccentric) way about her, but I've never felt the "arrogant" vibe. Barbara Streisand is another story. I almost peed on myself when she sang "Smile" to a giant screen capture of her dead dog on "Oprah" this year....it was so melodramatic and self-absorbed. I know losing a pet is very difficult and I'm in no way saying that it isn't painful, but honestly I felt that it was extremely strange. I could have understood had it been her mother or some person that she loved very much...but a moving tribute in song to your former pet on national television is a little much for me. I am intensely emotional and have loved all of my pets probably too much, but that is beyond ridiculous.

That's my Buddy....

In his declining years when Jazz Drumming legend Buddy Rich was quite ill, there was one point where he was wheeled into the hospital.A nurse says to him "Now,Mr. Rich, you are going to be put under sedation,so we have to know:Are you allergic to anything?".He looks at her and says:"Country and western music"

Hey, at least Weird Al's parody of the song was funny...there was even an entire verse dedicated to Tonya and Nancy!

BTW, I can't believe that song is already old enough to get airplay on a retro radio station...man, do I feel old!

I have to agree with everyone who said "all rappers and hip-hoppers"....as well as:
Timberlake
Aguilera
Spears
Eminem
J-Lo
Houston

Madonna - she is starting to look like a retired Madam, and sounds like one too
Britney Spears - she is starting to look like a Madam wannabe and she can't sing, either
Marilyn Manson - ugh!
JLo - should stick to acting because her voice is very ordinary
Christina Aguilera - she has a terrific voice but she looks very slutulent
Jessica Simpson - duh!

I don't think Celine is nearly as bad as Whitney and Barbra but I think she is on her way. I don't know if anyone watched the first "Divas" on VH1 a few years ago. Celine tried to out-screech (if that is a word) Aretha Franklin. As if Aretha Franklin is going to let anyone have the last lyric, so to speak. :rolleye: But that didn't keep her from trying. I don't know how long they went on before they finally shut up.

Any singer who "over-emotes" Example: Michael Bolton - the only song I like that I've heard him sing is "Go the Distance" (I love when Paul Wylie skated to it).

I don't like heavy metal & rap music (the songs with objectionable lyrics, Will Smith's rap doesn't bother me at all)

Just my two cents
