Now we just need some entries...

Ask and it shall be given onto you.

Entries are now up on the Sportity page.

My kids Val / Kazimov are entered for both this and the Roman Pavel Memorial. They are guaranteed a medal (and probably a gold one at that) in Olomouc, because there is only one other entry in Seniors there. But being in a bigger field would be more beneficial.

Day 1 of the NRW Trophy is starting now with all the Pattern Dances. And, yes, it is being done in the format I don't like, with each level having both segments back-to-back. Which isn't fair on the Basic Novices, as there is only one partnership, so they have to do both of their programmes in a row.

Livestream for the Pattern Dance competitions is now on air.

Here is the link for the livestream:

All the other information you may need can be found in the OP of this thread.

Hope this helps

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EVERYBODY!!! :cheer:

I thought they might do that. The Basic Novice kids didn't bother going to the results area at the end of PD1. They just stayed on the ice and went over to the boards to talk to their coach. And then did some extra warming up before the official Warm-Up for PD2.

And the wee girl is wearing glasses! 👓

I know I say it every year, but I like this announcer. He speaks very clearly, and also shows just the right amount of personality to keep your attention.

It took the Basic Novice kids a bit longer to get to the results area than it took for the scoring to be done. So, to hurry them up without making it obvious that that was what he was doing, he jovially told them to sit down when they arrived.

Eve DEXTER / Maxime FOUQUET (GBR) look amazing! Particularly Maxime in his full suit with tails.

Didn't like the cover of "New York, New York" that they were skating to. But the skating was good.

They are very tall! So much taller than the Finnish partnership before them. I was curious to find out what age the Brits were, so I looked them up and it came as no surprise to see that they are actually Junior eligible already.

Incidentally, the twins that finished off PD1, Martha HONKAVUO / Winston HONKAVUO (FIN), were born 6 days too late to be Junior eligible this season! :drama:

Oh, and Winston is another that skates wearing glasses! 👓

Same results in both Intermediate Pattern Dance segments. Brits leading, with the younger Finnish partnership breathing down the neck, and then a gap to the Finnish twins in third.

We're really rattling through things. Straight onto the Advanced Novice Dancers now. Three German partnerships.

Oh. My. Goodness!

I just looked up the first Intermediate Novice partnership, Daryna ZIMINA / Jan EGOROV (DEU), because I was curious about whether they were Russian imports. Their ISU Bio doesn't say anything about Daryna, but Jan is actually a local from down the road in Essen. Then I spotted the name of Jan's former partner, Holly Julie MOORE, and looked her up too.

Holly's Irish! From Drogheda, County Louth! :jaw:

But, the more I thought about it, the more I thought I had heard that before. So I checked, and I did - @TarAncalime told me during a previous edition of this event!

I wonder if she has found a new partner yet. With Carolane and Shane in the twilight of their careers, we could do with a young partnership coming behind them.

Anyway, after they came off the ice, Daryna and Jan didn't go to the resuts area. They split up and went to their respective changing rooms. So, I presume they have different costumes for each Pattern Dance.

Another reason to not have both Pattern Dances back-to-back...

My goodness, but Warunya Katharina SALENBAUCH / Paiboon Hermann SALENBAUCH (DEU) have grown since I first saw them! Paiboon in particular has got so tall!

Don't like this version of "Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen" that they are skating to in PD2. But, at least it was edited to fit the time, unlike many pieces of music that are skated to in Pattern Dance competitions.

They won PD1 and, as the first partnership in PD2, they go into the lead of it too.

When Daryna ZIMINA / Jan EGOROV (DEU) came out wearing green, I thought "is this like when Laurin Wiederkehr split with his half-Irish partner, but still went ahead with the 'Riverdance' programme that had been already prepared for them?"

So, I was totally taken by surprise when it turned out to be a "Ghostbusters" programme.

Then it hit me - Daryna is portraying Slimer!

I know I said this a few days ago about a skater who did a "Ghostbusters" programme at the IceChallenge, but I wish Jan had been wearing a beige boiler suit!

But, I just went looking for a picture of Slimer with the Ghostbusters, and discovered that my memory is deceiving me. The boiler suits varied in colour.

They go into 2nd position in both Pattern Dances, and overall. The Salenbauchs are leading both Pattern Dances, and overall.

That resurfacing marked the end of the Ice Dancing for today. For the rest of the day it is all Singles Short Programme competitions. Two marathon Ladies competitions, with a group of boys in between.

It starts with an Advanced Novice double-bill. It should have been 34 girls, followed by 5 boys. But skater #9, Isabel Romanova JENSEN (DEN), has withdrawn.

The opening skater, a Dutch girl, is tiny! So, I checked her ISU Bio to find out her age, and she turned 12 in June. But then I noticed what she had put down as her profession - "Primary school".

That's actually really cute putting that rather than the more generic "student".

It also hits home just how young these skaters are.

CaroLiza_fan

Well, the third skater just debunked my theory about a national style based on Loena Hendrickx's skating starting to develop in Belgium.

I loved everything about that programme! Of course I did - I always love programmes to Middle Eastern music. And the dress was also Middle Eastern in style.

She goes into 3rd position.

When the final skater in Group 1, #6 Markéta KOVÁŘÍKOVÁ (CZE), came out, I instantly said to myself "The Lion King".

My tongue was firmly in my cheek, because she was wearing a tiger stripe costume. (If you know, you know).

According to her ISU Bio, she was skating to a song called "Tanzania" by Uncle Waffles and Tony Duardo.

Just one problem: tigers are from the Indian sub-continent, not Africa.

Anyway, I really enjoyed that programme.

She goes into 5th position.

CaroLiza_fan

Kováříková was in a Cruella de Vil sandwich! So, it's a good job that it's dogs that Cruella goes after rather than cats!

The difference is that I wouldn't have worked out that the first one was a "Cruella de Vil" programme from what skater #5, Ameliya SOLDATOVA (LTU), was wearing. But I knew instantly from what skater #7, Talia WELTHER (DEU), was wearing.

Soldatova went into 2nd position, while Welther went into 7th position,.

Mmmm. Music issues for Elena MARTINENGHI (CHE).

I bet this is because the skater that was due on before her, #9 Isabel Romanova JENSEN (DEN), is a withdrawal.

Very interesting costume. I'm intrugued to find out what the music and the programme are like.
