2025 NRW Trophy | Nov 13-16

Boys, but it took a long time to find the correct music for Elena MARTINENGHI (CHE). And I got a surprise when they did. It was a piano instrumental of "Zombie" by The Cranberries.

Dolores O'Riordan's singing is such a big part of what makes the song so legendary, so it was surreal to hear it without vocals. But the instrumental was actually not as bad as I would have imagined.

I actually enjoyed that programme.

She goes into 2nd position.

And straight after her, we had another programme that I enjoyed, this time from Rebecca RUSU (DEU).

Rock music from a female singer!

She looks disappointed. Like she is about to cry.

She goes into 2nd position.

Resurfacing time.

And time for food for me!

Skating resumes in 12 minutes from now.

Unfortunately, I took too long and missed not only the Warm-Up, but the start of the first skater's programme.

However, I remember Leonie Carolin VON BUELOW (DEU) from the Tirnavia Cup a couple of weeks ago. So, it wasn't as if I hadn't seen this programme before.

She's disappointed. Well her score is about 3 points lower than she got when she won the SP in Trnava. But, even if she had got that same score today, she would still be in the same position.

She goes into 3rd position.

I approve! Summer WIJKHUIZEN (NED) wearing a very pink jumpsuit, skating to a song by... Pink!

Pretty sure I haven't seen anybody skating to "Fun House" before. But, it did make a fun programme.

She goes into 5th position.

Well that is the final nail in the coffin of my theory about a Belgian national style.

What a strange programme from Maud DEVOS (BEL). I have no idea how you would describe it. It was just so different.

I like her dress.

She goes into 6th position.

Two years ago, I wrote this during the 2023 edition of this event:

That was a really enjoyable programme from Marie KILJAN (DEU).

And such a pretty dress!

She goes into 18th.

Awww. She's delighted!

And I could write exactly the same about her this year! But with a few minor tweaks.

Firstly, at the start of the programme today, I wasn't sure about the music. But it really grew on me as the programme went on.

And the dress she is wearing today is more than just "pretty" - it is darn-right beautiful!

She goes into 3rd position.

It's always lovely to see a skater so delighted with their scores!

Sorry, my Dad wanted to find out something on the computer, so I wasn't able to comment for a long time.

We just had two Italian skaters. Now it was obvious that they were amongst the older skaters here. But, when I looked them up, I found something interesting. The age difference between them is only 12 days!

And in terms of scores today, the difference between them is only 0.35 points!

The older skater, Lucrezia ARDISSONE (ITA), goes into 21st position, taking over the position from the younger skater, Matilde RICCHIARDI (ITA).

Because if the withdrawal earlier, we have a slightly longer resurfacing break of 20 minutes. We resume at 10 minutes past the hour.

CaroLiza_fan

Reposting this because I originally posted it in the wrong thread. :slink:

Now that is going to make things interesting for the FS!

Before the resurfacing, the penultimate skater in Group 4 was a French girl with a Japanese surname, #26 Laila MIZOKAMI (FRA).

We just started the final group with a German girl with a Japanese surname, #28 Mia YANAGITANI (DEU).

They got identical scores!!! :jaw: But the French girl won the tiebreak, because she had the higher TES.

Blondie!!!!!!!!

I loved this programme from Emma GERKE (DEU) when I saw it at the Tirnavia Cup. And I loved it again today!

At least she wasn't crying today.

She geos into 13th position.

It's been a long time since I last saw Floor van der PAS (NED). To the extent that I didn't recognise her until we got a close-up of her face!

She did a "Lion King" programme. And I loved her traditional African dress.

But, I didn't love the way they included the audio of the moment that Mufasa was killed.

She goes into 23rd position.

Cruella de Vil is certainly popular in Dortmund. She popped up again, this time in the guise of Anezka ŠKORPILOVÁ (CZE)

Yes, she was wearing the usual type of dress.

She goes into 24th position, just ahead of Floor.

ZORBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a way to finish the competition!!!

Dot BERVOETS (BEL) was wearing a purple jumper with gold Greek Key pattern, and a cream skirt.

I absolutely loved that.

She was great! She even coped with the changes in speed.

And I just saw on her ISU Bio - today is exactly a week since she turned 13.

:cheer: HAPPY BELATED 13th BIRTHDAY DOT!!! :cheer:

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

I hope that the coming year is a good one for you, both on and off the ice!

She goes into 17th position.

We stay with the Advanced Novices, but move from the girls to the boys. Not quite as many, though. A group of 5 boys.

Oh, and despite what the timings on Sport Deutschland said, we are staying on the same stream. Which makes more sense.

CaroLiza_fan

What on Earth just happened?!

There we were listening to Charles Aznavour singing "La Bohème", and then all of a sudden we heard what sounded to me like machine guns, and it turned into a techno track.

What a weird programme from Federico BERRUTO (ITA) to start us off.

CaroLiza_fan

That was more conventional from Lenny ZAMI (FRA). He was skating to Ram Jam's version of "Black Betty". He was wearing a black leather T-shirt, black trousers, and black fingerless gloves.

I really enjoyed that. Even though it reminds me how much I miss Javier Fernández skating.

He goes into 2nd position.

CaroLiza_fan

A skater from the Netherlands skating to Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain".

I bet you that Leon LO (NED) is a Formula 1 fan. ;)

He was wearing a pale blue shirt and black trousers.

He goes into a masive lead.

CaroLiza_fan

Last week at the Ice Challenge, we had a little Hungarian boy skating to "I Was Made For Loving You" by Kiss. Today, it was the turn of Simone CLEMENTINO (ITA).

He was wearing all black. But, still no face paint! :drama: 😞

@elektra blue - your young skaters need your guidance!

He goes into 3rd position.

CaroLiza_fan

That was an enjoyable programme from George GARCIA HEINE (DEU) to end the competition.

He was wearing a white short and black trousers.

He goes into 2nd position.
