Australia has an Open division. I do wonder what makes an open team. It is quite popular!

Open in Australia uses Advanced Novice rules, but has no age limit (similar to Mixed Age in Europe). Teams can also have just nine skaters, which is great for when teams struggle to find skaters! :)

What a good concept! Teams just getting started could begin competition as open teams until they get enough members of the rjght ages to compete in 16 member teams of the right ages, then?

Exactly! I think it's a wonderful idea, it allows so many more skaters to participate! :)

I also see that New Zealand teams participated in some of the divisions. Does New Zealand have its own championships, or does it just go to Australia's?

New Zealand has its own Championships as well, but are always welcome to compete in Australia's (and vice versa)
