Dance practice report part three:
While the two previous groups only did partial programs the couples in the last group skated almost full programs.
Hawayek/Baker (USA) skated to Romeo and Juliette. They wore pale purple and blue costumes. The twizzles looked good with nice ice coverage (they almost fell on the twizzles later during practice though). Their spin was good with a smooth change of direction. The lifts were good and the second one had very smooth changes of position.
Chock/Bates (USA) skated to An American in Paris. They wore black costumes, hers had a strange white ribbon in the back that looked a bit like a tail. They did a nice lift with a really great exit. The rotational lift was good, but the curve lift could be a little smoother. I didn't really see them do their spin or twizzles.
Zhiganshina/Gazsi (GER) (I just read that their music was a variation of Swan Lake I will have to pay attention to that tomorrow). The costumes were black and rather normal for them. The program was very entertaining as always, but more serious than previous ones. There were some really funny moments, lots of acting and drama. You should totally watch it. They sadly struggle a bit an the technical side with slow twizzles and spin. The lifts were good, but they struggled with the changes of position in the rotational lift.
Weaver/Poje (CAN) skated to Four Seasons in pink and brown costumes. She wore headband with roses. The beginning was light, airy and spring-like followed by more dramatic music (they didn't skate this part). The lifts were very good with smooth changes of position. The spin was a little slow and I don't think they held the positions for enough turns. The twizzles were very good with the leg extended to the side parallel to the ice as one difficulty.
Now I just have to decide whether to go back to the rink and watch the men's free skate or to stay here and sleep.
