That petition is getting about 10,000 signatures a minute,
Does it stop at a million ? cause it's almost there

Now I know why Sochi was the most expensive Olympics, and it ain't about the buildings. .
I think we can safely say this Olympic did not earn figure skating many new fans. From the men's splatfest to this disaster, the sport has already seen a lot of rough times in recent years and it did not get any boost from these competitions. Even the skaters that general people have a mild interest in (Yuna, Mao, Plushy) are done after this.

YUNA CRIED): breaks my heart!

.. I hope those are tears of relief and wonderment at her decorated career and not due to the overwhelming feeling of being the victim of an unfair situation..One of the biggest jokes ever.
Should've been
1. Carolina Kostner or Yu-Na Kim for either gold or silver
3. Adelina Sotnikova for bronze

I am not a fan of Putin.

First, I am not Russian, and it distresses me to see a lot of Russian haters on this board since before the Olympics. Japan, Canada, US all favored their own whenever they hosted international events, I don't doubt that there's home advantage here too, just par for the course.
The question is whether it is done to the point where it is beyond the pale and led to unjust results. I would say "No", as someone without particular favorites, but admire skates, not skaters.
The petition to overturn the results is horrible and unsporting, it looks like online "swarm" mobilization again of the ugly kind.
It seems to me most posters here were watching the games with colored glasses, especially the Kim ubers, as it was very obvious that both Sotnikova and Mao had the most difficult, complex and intricate FS programs overall, even if they made small mistakes. Sotnikova's was more complex than Mao's, though Mao had the better jumps layout. I love Kim's skating, she is a beautiful skater, but her program and performance were in no way her best, lots of cross-overs and gestures but not a lot of moves, jumps and spins were nicely executed but not spectacular. I had hoped that she would up the ante for the Olympics after Zagreb and Nationals for the performance between the jumps, up the passion, the staccato, the sobriety a la W/P's Tango FS, but she didn't. I blame her choreographer for not giving her programs with more oomph. I would place the FS (1) Sotnikova (2) Mao (3) Kim (4) Caro (5) Edmunds, (horribly underscored in PCS...seems they all went to Gracie Gold).
Sotnikova deserved her PCS - the execution, interpretation, choreography were all original and full of charisma. She was on fire in both SP and LP, like Mao in the FS, she really wanted to bring the game - there was a lot to appreciate in between the big technical elements. She isn't an ice princess, she picks unusual, difficult and challenging moves, lines, gestures, lots of surprises, nothing like what every other skater delivered. To those who are used to the skating style of Mao, Kim, Gold, etc., they may seem jarring, "ugly", awkward, but to me, I like a Pina Bausch as much as a Kirov Ballet. Both have their artistic merits as long as their meaning is expressed in the performance.
Can you please respect that this outcome is infuriating to many many people without us being "Russian haters" ?
I thought it was wonderfully performed and refreshingly exciting compared to the men's bellyflop, but the judging is such a shame. Here's the thing. If Adelina got 144 it'd STILL be a joke and travesty. Her free skate was not as artistically strong as Kim, Carolina and Mao and she bobbled. That means 4th best free skate, period! She deserved the bronze considering her strong short and Mao's performance there. So for Adelina to not only get as high a score as them but 5-7 points ahead of them, is beyond the point of believability. It's a big fat joke.
Kim and Carolina were at least 5 points better than anyone else this competition, when taken as a whole. Adelina's short was as good and Mao's long. But the difference is Kim and Carolina were aces both programs. That this competition ended in any other way than Kim and Carolina 1 and 2 in some order is a travesty that's a black mark on the entire sport
In a brief off-ice interview with an American reporter, Yuna said that she was glad that it was over, was under a lot of pressure, continuing to train had been hard...she seemed more relieved than sad imo.
No, when Putin is dragged into the discussion, it's definitely Russophobia.

One of the judges clearly "thought" it was better than Yuna's 2010 FS.
Judge 7's protocol for Adelina:
GOE:
3
3
3
3
3
-1 (the combo jump where she stepped out)
3
3
3
2
3
PCS:
9.5
9.5
9.75
9.75
9.75
It was really good but it doesn't come close to Yuna's FS in Vancouver.
I'll bet that it was one of the two judges in question:
Judge whose husband is the head of the Russian Federation or the Ukraine judge once suspended for fixing the Nagano Olympics.
