2014 Olympics Ladies Free Skate

YuNa was a true champion. It was a performance of age like Sandra said.Watch BBC ,CBC, Spain, German TV, Even Italian commentators were so upset about the result. they said YuNa should win gold and Caro take silver.

Remember. Adelina is not a true a champiom.

Well, not yet,

But hearing now that she probably wont go to Worlds and do "Art on ice" instead, I'm starting to think she wont give herself a chance to be

@wordsworthgirl: I did not mean to generalize. I apologize. As for Johnny and Tara, they knew the score Adelina received, just like us. They perhaps knew what was coming. They sensed what's foreordained. Remember they were there all the while and knew Yuna's routine ahead. It's an understated program, yes, but it doesn't mean emotion isn't there. Maybe you and I disagree on this point, but even the title is "Adios.." It's her good-bye song to the skating fans. She did the program as well as she could, without being a flipper/flapper like some other skaters.

Thanks, usethis2, you're sweet! :) I appreciate us clearing up the misunderstanding. I really do feel your pain, as I was a Michelle fan in 98 and threw the remote at the TV when Tara won. However, looking back years later, I could better understand Michelle's silver because she did skate tentatively that night, and Tara did have more difficulty. I love Yuna's skating and feel for her. I don't think Adelina should have been as high in her component scores as she was. I think Yuna should have had a bigger cushion going into the long. But I do think the placement of Adelina over Yuna in the long was correct.

She did perform extremely well, except for that one jump. If this judge thinks it's +3, another judge thinks it's +2, so what? ALL judges agreed they were +GOE worthy.

I liked all her jumps, powerful, great height, fully rotated, as did many others, deal with it.

I think he\she is, By doing everything he\she does

As it was said on ABC news, there was one judge married to the Russian Federation president and another judge who was kicked out for a year for cheating at the Nagano Olympics - "there's your answer"

Actually, I would opine that Mao was too harshly judged for SP, but correctly rewarded for FS. Not every skater got an edge call, so it's not completely fair, imo. I would place her 4th, even with a flawed SP. However, I'm not going to make unfounded allegations about bribery, it robs the skaters, and unfairly besmirches the Games. Like I said, EVIDENCE, please.

And that's why we need an INVESTIGATION. To find EVIDENCE. All people are asking for is an investigation into what happened.

Also the commentators in my country were like...wohoo,what just happened? they said that this isn't right and that Yuna's scores were way too low!

In the situation that almost whole stadium wish secretly Yuna falters (understandable) and Yuna knows that inside, isn‘t it amazing enough Yuna can give such performance? Especially skating in the last order that Yuna hates to death. :)

Wow, what a competition.
Adelina had huge jumps and great spins, but the rest of the LP was not very memorable. She just skated from element to element. PCS was just . All of the sudden her PB is 20 points or so higher? But I guess she deserved the gold.
Yuna's LP left me cold too, although kudos for her for performing well under huge pressure. For me, it was Kostner who is a 'sentimental' winner. I would have had 2nd. (Yet, I am a bit disappointed, she did not put the 3S at the end of her LP. It was the wow factor, which could have earned her silver and there was no way she would loose bronze).

Gracie - great skate. I really enjoyed her LP!
And Polina - wow, if I ever hear again that she skates juniorish, I will cringe. She has style, she is etheral, she feels the music, she flies over the ice. And those huge jumps! She is better than Julia at this point, sorry! I am buying what she is selling, wheras I do not buy Julia's emotions.

Oh, Mao... Why was your SP strategy so badly planned... You should have tried 3-3, for the whole season.

The NYTimes writer showed how Sotnikova beat Kim, but did not explain WHY Sotnikova received the marks she did in order to do so. So that's not proof. If anything, it calls into question the marks.

The article showed how Sotnikova beat Kim by describing how Sotnikova's elements were more difficult than Kim's, jumps were better executed, good height, distance and flow compared to Kim's, and thus deserved higher scores. Kim still beat Sotnikova for PCS, lost to her in TES.

Come on. If you know figure skating, you cannot say that Sotnikova's jumps were better executed than Kim's.

Excellent assessment, Kinga. I agree with you on everything. especially on Polina- she was ethereal and radiant!

No, it sounds more like a witch hunt. The placements and scores were generally fair, of course they were harsher to the juniors like Edmunds, Li, etc., than the seniors, or those from weaker federations. This happens at EVERY international competition. Yet no one calls for investigations at those competitions, only this one. A bit late, isn't it?

Kim beat Sotnikova in PCS by .08 (or was it .008?)...

Sotnikova beat Kostner and Asada in PCS (as did Lipniskaia>Asada)...

:rolleye::sarcasm:

jumps better executed
haha

anywho, it was really sad watching Yuna cry @ backstages

Yuna you are a real champion.
I am going to keep watching this dirty so called 'sports' and watch how high sotnikova gets in score wise outside of russia. After all, she can't have putin by her side for every competition.
Again, yuna kim you are a real champion. Huge respect for you yuna.

Really? Is this necessary?

This sentence makes as much sense as me saying, if you know figure skating, you cannot say that last night, Kim's jumps were better than Sotnikova's. They weren't, and the replays like the one featured in the NYTimes showed.

This is what I disliked about Kim ubers, they state an absolute without backing, just declare that if you don't think Kim is better, then you don't know anything.

Like I said, BACK IT UP.

I don't know if at the NEXT competition, if Kim will skate better or worse than Sotnikova, but last night, Sotnikova was better, and I agreed with the judges and the NYTimes writer.

Every competition is open to all, thank god.
