2014 Olympics Ladies Short Program

I don't say Mao should win because...

They shouldn't reward easier programs so much with favoritism.
Basically no +GOE should be given on 2A at this level.

BTW, Should someone maybe start a new thread called "Actual Ladies SP" ?

We'd probably still be at page 25 if people wouldn't post the famous one liner "Oh my god, I can't believe this thread has already XX pages and the ladies haven't even started!" every second post.

Nathalie Weinzierl's draw is really unfortunate. She skates directly after Yuna, which won't do her nerves any good. I really hope she is able to skate clean, but after her team event short I am not so sure. I always kind of preferred Sarah Hecken and thought she would go places after Vancouver, but she totally crumbled. Nathalie seems more natural in interviews as well.

Errr I wish Yuna was skating later so I don't have to wake up too early haha. I am basically waking up at 4:00AM to watch Kim Yuna and then wait another hour or so before the skaters of Group 6 skate.

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

1. Don't reward programs with 6-7 triples. Okay, you're a Mao stan
2. No GOE to 2A... OKAY! We get it. You're a Mao stan.

If your Mao is so good, why can't she do a program that is clean. Is it too hard for her? Maybe she should do something she is CAPABLE of in the competition.
I feel sorry for her to have to do 8 triples to have any shot at a medal. (Not sure if she will even medal)

Yuna can just do 6 triples she is capable of in the competition. Do it amazingly and earn +2, +3 GOEs because of the speed and height rather than the double footed, underrotaed that is Mao Asada.

A good one should, Like one with great hight and air, Maybe an arm over head, A difficult spiral type or steps entry,

The one Lipnitskaya does shouldn't, She basically just hops into it, No effort to make it nice what so ever.

Who knows what will happen?
You should remember the game hasn't started yet
and we all know that the ice is slippy.

Mao has experience. She was one of the heavy favorites in 2010.
She overcame all the hard time since Vancouver.
She knows what the Olympic is about.
She will do her best.

Believe in Mao.

BTW, I don't agree with what you mean by 'easier program.'
The difficulty of the program is not about what kind of jumps that you can do.
It is more than that.

Okay.
Time to cheer for Mao and stop bashing the others.
It will work, I swear.

Lol, what? Mao would definitly NOT need 8 triples if her goal was only to podium. She has a pretty consistent 2A-3T, so she could go for 6 triples + 2A or 7 triples + 1A with much lower risk and definitly beat anyone minus Yuna and maybe Julia. Her PCS and non-jump GOE would definitly pull her huge marks.

Oh that's rich.

wow, 31 pages already and the Ladies SP has not started yet!

Good luck to Mao, Akiko, Kanako, Carolina and Valentina (love her Sorrento SP) ! :yay::party:

Not anymore.
:yay:

I don't think so.
The media raised Julia up so badly in this game,
but I think that Mao is still one of the heavy favorites.

I think that older ladies will fill the podium eventually.
Yuna, Mao and Carolia have experience and maturity.
Yeah, it's just my dream ,
but who knows what will happen?

Go the mature women!!!

Hey, let her be happy if Mao being a non-favorite is so much fun for her - not that being a favorite or a non-favorite really decides the ranks in the end ;)
I'd say Yuna is the favorite, followed by Julia (I'll never get used to Yulia) due to her consistency. Mao is somewhat of a wildcard/semi-favorite/favorite-for-the-upset I think, any maybe that will help her better than being one of the front-runners.

BTW, 31 pages even before the game begins.

I bet there will be huge battles in this thread after the real game begins.

WOW. I'm scared. :unsure::biggrin::confused::bow:

That is the most logical reading of "protocols" of London worlds.

I think Russian and Japanese judges can agree on "not giving too much favors" to the lowest BV. Maybe the American, Italian can follow. That will set the basic course of the judging.

Yeah and by your 'logic', the two-footed, underrotated, wrong edge, and ugly landing jumps would be the same as the jumps which aren't, if you just land them without falling.
Then what's the point of separating the jumps in salchow, flip, lutz, loop, and so on? Just let them jump in any way they like and count the rotations. Height, distance, speed, you don't need any of those, and yeah, that would be SO encouraging for figure skaters right? There soon would be female skaters doing quadruple jumps lol Don't worry about your performance, just plan difficult jumps in a row, and you'd get huge scores for 'trying' them. :sarcasm:

Don't act like a troll to rebut a troll. It's not good and even not helpful.

If Mao goes with 7 triples layout, her chance to be on podium will be better. Gold? not sure with Yuna and Julia competiting.

What bugs me about NMURA is she/he is talking like the competition is already done, the results is up, and his/her favourite loses very unfairly only just because of GOE although she goes completey clean and gets all of planned BV. Nope! It hasn't started yet! Please, just believe in your skater. Don't need to panic. Don't be out of control. IT HASN'T STARTED YET!

No, Vanessa Guzmeroli is French, Lakernik seems to be Russian. Baranova as well.. The technical specialists have to agree upon the points given.

So it looks like 2 of the 3 tech specialists are Russian.. Its going to be interesting to see levels, rotations, edge calls, etc.

I have a bad feeling about this already. Two of the three technical specialists are Russian? Sorry, but if Julia and Adelina are unfairly judged all the cries of fowl will be valid.

I remember that Olga Baranova isn't Russian.
She is Finnish as far as I remember.
Anyway, just hope that they will do their jobs fairly. :agree:
