2014 Olympics Ladies Short Program

I felt the exact opposite when I first saw Yuna skate. For me, she's the most graceful skater I've seen in this generation, like a ribbon following the path of the wind. Have you seen her 2010 Vancouver LP? or Meditation de Thais gala? Or Send in the Clowns program?

uhmm in practices she does not look miserable at all IMO. I'm sorry but those remarks are a big "WHAT" to me.

Wow, I could never adequately put it into words, but that is exactly how I feel when I watch her. Ribbon following the path of the wind. Thanks for that!

Totally agree with you. Yuna is like a ballerina on ice.

Maybe I'm just odd but I want and kind of expect Kanako to shine and finish ahead of Ashley and Akiko. I would not be surprised to see her in 5th or 6th. The problem is they are all so deserving and only 3 can podium.

I was hoping for a Kanako upset from the start. But she skates too early, her PCS will be low, her jumps in the SP aren't in the second half (I wish she had brought Prayer for Taylor back, instead of Violin Muse) and those underrotations could happen! :( I hope she makes the final group though!

I didn't say Kim will be screwed just that I'll be interested to see what happens. You can't really compare her to Osmond, who isn't expected to get great marks regardless of when she skates.

Kim haven't got a chance getting gold skating against Julia and Gracie. She should have stayed with Orser. Osmond might surprise you....she's not expecting gold but to skate her best and the ice is awful slippery and she was underscored in the Team skate.

Anyone know how I can watch the Olympics (legally) in the US without a cable subscription or reception to NBC in my area? NBC won't even post highlights or clips online... so looks like I'll just need all of you to write really poetic, descriptive recaps of the performances

There is a free app. Sochi 2014 that you can get.....live coverage.

Well, I think Yuna did just fine last year against pretty much most of them she will be facing again here, don't you? ;) (Granted, Julia is new and Sochi being Russia unfortunately cannot be ignored.) The fact that you rate Osmond higher than Yuna makes me think you're not being serious. I mean, Canadian here, and I automatically support Osmond and her absolute liveliness on ice, and I want to do extremely well, and given a couple of years, she could become one of the favourites, but seriously?

Short Program Predictions:
Sentimental-
1. Mao Asada
2. Carolina Kostner
3. Kanako Murakami

What will actually happen-
1. Julia Lipnitskaia
2. Yuna Kim
3. Adelina Sotnikova

Wait. It's tomorrow. Oh. Wow. Thought it was today. Oops.

I actually logged into my Sochi phone app and had to endure an update just because your post made me very unsure of when it actually was. :slink: I even requested the next two days off of work and still panicked a little.

Well. I have to work all day tomorrow. It's being taped of course, so my deal is to stay away from all media, all day so I don't know the results before I watch tomorrow night. I even bring up this thread and don't look ahead, just read the responses right at the same time as each skater goes! Thank goodness for technology and DVR's!

There is no way Osmond was underscored in the team event.
She made errors.
People on here see something else other than reality.
I can only imagine what people will post if Julia wins Gold & there is no North American lady on the podium.
FIX ! FIX !.

I truly hope Yuna will take the lead in both SP and LP.
I always thought her style of simplicity is a little boring, since I prefer Mao's type of dramatic, complicated footsteps and Akiko's emotional involvement with the programs. But the overall quality of Yuna's skating is far more superior than Julia. I only admire Julia's spins, but once she travels in her spins, it took the wow factor away.

I would love Julia to win gold....skating gods please and if you have a little left to give put Kaetlyn in the top ten...........lol, the fix was in the dance..lol.

Here are possibly the two greatest skaters ever, Michelle and Yuna. Beautiful!

I would like every skater to go clean. After that I don't care as much about the rankings. I've enjoyed the skating at these Olympics so much the result is second behind that really.
Anyone out there hoping Akiko get's two clean programs ?1.
I would love to see that girl really go for it. Maybe the nerves of the team event has helped her.
