So i just watched Yuna SP and the Russians DIDN'T stand up for her.
I mean she deserves a standing ovation alone being an Olympic Gold Medalist from 2010 an landed all her jumps again ALONE.
Not only that, her SP here was MAGICAL.

English is not my first language and i don't see what daaRia said meant insult anyway, we just meant we find her program today kind of predictable and not much joy as before. If there is any word that does not sound easy to your ears, then it's your fault for nitpicking us, we meant no harm, no insult.

If I call someone a female dog because it's a compliment in another culture, and English speakers take offense to it, I wouldn't fault them for "nitpicking". She didn't clarify what she meant so I took the statement at face-value. If she meant no harm, she could clarify her meaning herself (which she has done now).

You and other posters were telling me what YOU thought she meant, stretching the word way outside its conventional definition. I'm the one thinking too hard because I followed the dictionary?

Adelina was great today. She was overscored some, and we should demand fair scoring, but let's not go overboard and say she wasn't deserving to at least be third and in contention.

If she was overscored today she'll be overscored tomorrow, Think I\K, People SHOULD go overboard over stuff like that because not enough people do and it keeps happening, wether the placements are looking appropriate or not.

Even if Mao had been age aligible, would she have been too young, unmature like today's Yulia to score high on PCS? I don't see anything better from 2006 Mao to today's Yulia or Adelina.

I was just wondering about the same thing...I think that the Russians are the most anti-oplympic spirit people that I have seen...and I watch Olympics since 1988...I was only 5 years old at that time but I remember like it was yesterday how I loved the gymnast Daniela Silivas...

Sotnikova's program seemed to go on forever, and the last several minutes of it was just her spinning and lurching about the ice.

Oh no, it was excellent. She should not have received higher GOEs than Kim on her jumps, though, and she should be below Kostner overall. Still, a great start for Sotnikova.

They are uncivilized enough to bring drums and vuvuzela into ice rink?
That may fly in an open stadium but never in an ice rink. Disgraceful, disrespectful and just disgusting behavior from many of the Russian crowds
They do not deserve to host such big international event

I'm not saying I agree, but Yuna looked nervous. She did the technical elements well but if you think that is the best Yuna has presented a SP you haven't seen some of her best work.

There is a good chance figure skating will be removed from the 2018 Olympics if that ever happened. After these Olympics it might be what figure skating needs to get its act in order again. 3 years of Chan scandal one after another and now this.

Kostner should have also been atleast 5 points above Sotnikova with way higher TES and PCS. Probably would have been in any other country. I might have even had Kostner first over Kim, especialy as she skated in the final flight.

Are you ********? Figure skating is one of, if not the marquee, event and it makes the IOC and advertisers mad cash. That's all that matters.
