Daleman has power, speed, and big sure jumps. Her skating skills were the strongest among this very weak field. A clear winner yesterday.

Homecooking got Kevin Reynolds #7 in this Senior B event and Ross Miner without a fall.

27 PCS for Daleman is too much even considering the home ice advantage I would have given her something around 24-25, she needs to work A LOT on her transitions, posture, arm movements and expression, if I hadn't known that it was Vivaldi, it could have been even a jazz piece, basing on her facial expressions I adore her huge jumps, though

How does facial expression have anything to do with PCS? Did you watch her video? She had lots of transitions and arm movements (way more than Wang who does mostly crosscuts with a 3 turn!) and if you watch closely she had facial expressions. Its hard was hard to see on my laptop, but when I hooked it up to my tv I could see them better (yes she could have more). Did you see her footwork? Play it again, she does a split jump in two different directions, you try that! It is difficult to see how well she is selling the program because the music is out of sync with the video. I found it tough to judge the interpretation myself for this reason with a lot of the programs I watched. Why is it that as soon as someone does well on home soil, people start saying "home ice advantage". I agree with Sackie, that if they were going to give Daleman the home ice advantage she would not have been the only top lady to receive an edge call that cost her 3 points. Also I would have given her higher bonuses on her step sequence as it was a level 4 and Wang's was a level 2 with Wang receiving almost the same GOE's on that element.

Why didn't you say anything about the American's getting high PCS because they are our neighbours? The panel at Autumn skate is comprised of international judges from all over the world, I wish people would stop saying there is bias in the judging when a hometown skater does well. Its not like Sochi.

I think the marking was too high for this program. But I thought the same at Nebelhorn. Maybe it is just the level of the judging for a senior B, or is there a change in the IJS point scale and levels?

sk8hrd - We go through the same thing every year - every Can skater gets bonus marks when they skate in Canada and every USA skater gets marked down. And never ever does a USA skater ever get home ice advantage. But we will see next week when C/B and S/S both get PBs.

The +GOE is decided by judges, the level is decided by the tech controller. The requirements of +GOE has nothing to do with what level but the execution of the element.

FWIW, Gilles and Portier got a level 1 Paso sequences but +2s in +GOE. Same principle applies: G&P and Wang may have not had met the requirements to get a certain level, but the judges may have felt the element still met the various bullet points for +GOE.

I'm not saying that her program was bad, of course, but for me she didn't interpret the music very well and the overall quality of the execution of her transitions was quite poor for a Senior girl, I get the impression that she's mostly skating "through" the music, rushing things a bit too much; she reminds me of a very young Gracie Gold... About "home ice advantage": I'm not thinking about conspiracies, of course, it's just that athletes on home ice are usually cheered for more loudly and consequently the judges are prone to being a bit generous in.giving PCS, but I'm not saying that this was certainly the case, I can't be sure of course And it is not a Canadian thing, too: a clear example of "home ice advantage" in favour of an American skater has been Alyssa winning SA in 2011... However, the PCS judging for Ladies has been quite generous in the last couple of seasons overall, so we'll see how it will be in the future competitions...

Yes - but hearing the score does not tell you where they are in relation to the other teams. And sorry by order I meant the order of standings as each team skates. So there is no way to know who is in the lead at any given time.

Not really into G/P's free dance this season. Maybe Hitchcock spoiled me too much, but I'm kinda disappointed. Definitely prefer the short dance.

Did not like G/P free dance. It is too generic for me. And her dress is not good for skating.

No obvious mistakes but I missed the begining of the twizzles. Some very nice transitions and old school moves. Good interpretation but... even though I love them it fell a bit flat. It maybe just doesn't do it for me though. Maybe a bigger change in the music's mood would be welcome.
