2014 U.S. International Figure Skating Classic

Grrr, really annoyed at my internet. I attempted to watch both last night and today and my internet has just been complete crap for like 3 days now and IceNetwork isn't really working for me. I get about 5 seconds, it skips ahead, I see a few more seconds, etc. It's basically unwatchable. I had to go back this morning and watch the on demand video to see Max's performance. It's super frustrating because this is my first use of my new IceNetwork subscription, and I should have very nice, fast internet, but it just sucks for some reason.

Sorry for the venting, but I figure my fellow figure skating fans will understand my frustration. I really want to see the ladies' short but I'm wondering if I should just wait and watch it on demand tomorrow. Which seems a little ridiculous since I am sitting at home wanting to watch it, but the live stream just isn't working for me.

I saw a little bit of the ice dance short. I think i am already tired of paso doble music. I want to see them switch it up and do some gender-swapping with the matador/bull roles. That would be fun!

You and I are in agreement with the music, it is going to be a LONG season!!! As for the IN quality, be sure and clear the cache on your computer. I have found in the past that really helps.

Always set your computer to delete cookies and clear your history everytime you close out. If you use windows then maybe you need to 'Defrag' it.

I also unplug my router's power source for about 1 minute when things start regularly running slow.

Good Luck :)

Ummm, what the heck happened to Mirai's footwork section? It was gorgeous, now they've put in that ugly illusion and stuff. The flow and speed is gone. I'm disappointed. It certainly doesn't look like Adam's choreography.

Mirai needs a different expression on her face. she doesn't need to smile, per se, but needs to look like she's enjoying herself. She needs to think what Kwan would do with that music. More stretch and some ecstasy and artistry on her face.

She didn't look happy at all out there. I wouldn't either if my program got changed to that from what it was at Broadmoor Open. Ugh. I hope those changes to the footwork weren't suggested by the specialists at Champs Camp.

did i miss it or they got rid of that spiral into the final spin thing, too? That was my fave thing about the program :sarcasm:

I hope the changes aren't because they plan to put a 3A in the program. I'd much rather see a lovely footwork sequence.

Yeah, the beautiful Y spiral into the layback is gone : ( Without some intervention from Adam, the magic is gone. I'm sure he's busy with his own skating now, anyway. Dangit, I'm ticked off. Most skating fans are never gonna see how fantastic her programs were.

My feed is finally working pretty well, thanks for the suggestions about clearing the cache.

I saw most of the second group, including Mirai. I liked it, didn't love it. I really want her to work on her expression, she just looks so solemn all the time. Shame about the jump combo, the last two jumps seemed pretty good though. Even though I'm not sold on the idea of Tom Z. as her coach I actually did like their interaction in the K&C, they were talking and she cracked a smile at least once.

Huh, yeah the changes made were kind of perplexing. There's also now a posing moment in the choreography. It's a shame because I really loved a lot of the touches in the version we saw at Broadmoor. Her jumps looked way more secure in this short program, even missing the back end of her combination.

I think the programs are Champs Camps feedback. The changes look like every other COP programs. I did love the program in its original form. On the other hand jumps look so much improved. Her 3F3T in warm up was beautiful and looked fully rotated. Jumps look much higher. She looks in great shape and much better than she normally does at this point in the season. She can build from this.

I'll be really curious to read the protocols for her program. I'm hoping she makes a great comeback skate like at Broadmoor. Her conditioning does seem much improved, and I like the spiral into the triple loop entrance. It's funny I was actually watching Sarah Hughes free skate at 2002 Nationals and she did the same entrance and I was thinking that would be a good entrance for Mirai to use.

Here it is:

Actually it's even funnier, and I didn't know this at the time, but they're actually skating to the same music too. I wonder if that was intentional.

POLINA!! This should score about 70 points. Gracie is in big trouble. Edmunds is like Kostner except way more consistent and with more control. Ah she just keeps getting better.

We had Steady Sarah. Then Reliable Rachael. If Polina keeps this up what's the alliteration we'll have for her?
