2014 Worlds - Ladies Short Program

Mao - Speechless, unbelievable, incredible, stunning...
Caro - Beautiful, lyrical, gracious, smooth...
Julia - Nice flow, soft, better jumps than before...
Akiko - Elegant, effortless, flawless...
......

It is like I am having multiple orgasms.....

That old man of ISU, Cinqunta, needs to have a reality check! The short program has to stay!

just going by this forum, I can tell by how you brag/talk. that anna p, Julia, Natalie, mae Bernice, Carolina , mao , was overscored.

how you pointed out gracies supposed two footed but ignored other people remarks about possible urs on above mentioned and you overly brag that anna p score was too low , if skated in last group would have been higher,

you pointed out polina Edmunds mistake and Ashley.

you mention if did all the same it was fair.

sorry if you pointed out mistakes on American ladies and taken off in their pcs/ etc-=remember in Olympics adelina wasn't taken off.
y ou laughed that someone pointed out the -1 in mao's/ so. yes it is still cheating.

it is okay to destroy the u.s ladies in pcs but not others, it is okay to denounce gracie high score but not others if the judges don't notice it but other people do.

I haven't look at the videos but I will , I will comment on them.

if gracie, polina, Ashley did do that then they scores were fair. if mao, Julia , kaetlyn, mae mae Bernice, had small jumps, edge calls , urs that was n't taken off then it wasn't fair.

part of computer replay is to notice those and take off the points. but if they only do it for 1 country and not others than it isn't fair.

the u.s. people like me tend to notice just not our countries skaters doing that but others, if we allow for our countries skaters to be
deducted in pcs/tes scores than we expect it in other countries skaters as well. If they don't than that is considered unfair, cheating , political or whatever phrase this forum puts to it.

if it taken off for 1 has to be taken off for all regardless.

Mao just left me in tears! Such amazing performance! I just have one question to the Universe - why now and not at the Olympics?! She deserved it so much!

Carolina was magnificent! Her SP is so mature, so feminine. She is a perfection on the ice.

Thank you so much to Mao, Carolina, Akiko! Watching their performances i understand how the real ladies figure skating should be. When they skate i forget about elements. And i don't want to exchange it on the different 3-3 combinations and technical difficulty that the junior ladies can show.

Haha!

Oh gosh, this was so much better than the Olympics SP. Imagine Yuna & Adelina here as well...what a top 10 this would've been with all over 70!

I rewatched and I think they were a abit harsh on Kanako. It didn't look as horrible to me as the judges saw it, but I can live with it because I'm sure they know much more about figure skating than me. Crowd seemed to be a bit disappointed as well. :(

But then Pogorilaya. I don't understand what does she lack that the skaters in front of her have? I won't say names because that will only lead to blame, but she was held down a bit, imho. And I really hope that she doesn't show us her GPF Free. This is the girl that beat Sotnikova and Kostner before, but she has to focus. It is amazing to think that at last years Worlds the Russian Girls were bombing and now we have so many in the starting line. It just hurts to think they only have 3 spots and the possibility that Anna or Elena or some other talented girl has to stay home next year.

She was magical, I agree. Maybe there is less pressure on her, no Yuna rivalry to contend with and she's on home ice with the crowd behind her. Her 3A was the best I've seen and she seemed to float across the ice.

I was only able to see Yulia's SP too, and she also impressed me - she seems to be connecting to her music a bit more. Nice to see her smile a bit after the performance, so she must have been very happy with what she did.

Will watch the rest tonight.

smallish jumps should not equal high 40 in tes

overlooking mistakes and giving positive goes does not constitute fairness.

they shouldn't get anything extra in that jump like they did for gracie , or others. polina
point should be taken off or given a zero.

in other words gracie should have a 72, Ashley 66, polina a 63, kaetlyn a 64, kanako a 65, mae Bernice score maybe a 62, Natalie wienzerl a 61,

or mark down Julia to a 70, mao to a 75, Carolina to a 73.

the system works when follows the rules.

judges should be paid by the sponsors by that I mean, have the sponsors pay way (plane, & hotel rooms). instead of the skaters that way the sponsors know what the judges are looking for and maybe get more into the sport and give more to the sport. they would have more of a vested interest.

that way isu, usfa, japan could do like golf masters and have sponsors paid event like the Olympics, or worlds and no interruptions where television would have to televise the whole event.

maybe than the sponsors could start sending out information to the public regarding the sport.

right now the way the pcs are going they are destroying it in u.s for the ladies, already in pairs, downward spiral in mens.

the junior ladies was undermarked.

when I mean the u.s skaters was underscored I mean everyone. that all should be higher some are just as good if not better than others.
we go by what we see on television and mark off for that, we take in consideration the u.s mistakes and allow for other scores and get frustrated when other countries skaters make same mistakes and get higher scores, marks, pcs or otherwise.

I thought it was just my impression.

She said after the event she has been working on 4t and eluded to the fact she just falls halfway thru the last rotation and doesn't know why. It sounds like she may really be trying to bring it next year. If she is chucking 4's then that might explain her overall spring improving and ease of getting 3's. I posted an article in Julia Lipnistkaia Fan Fest.

Wow, Mao broke her first WR since 2007 (in the LP). 78.66 is an incredible score and it was so well deserved.

Anna is a newbie. Don't forget this is her debut senior season and her first trip to senior worlds. Unlike Julia (this is also her first trip to worlds) she doesn't have a GPF medal/Euro title/OGM to back her up coming into this competition. This is still figure skating...that means she'll have to pay her dues. If she can nail her FS, her scores will be a little higher.

She should hold that spiral a bit more. It's too short, too quick.

Agreed. People take for granted how beautiful a sustained move can be. If she held it for just a second longer it has a much better overall effect. Same thing goes for extended/sustained landings...I love to see a skater hold an edge after a jump for a few seconds.

Yulia said to russian journalists it was her best performance of the season emotionally and technically! She is very satisfied with her grades.
She also said that it's probably will be easier for her to jump quad than trixel :) She's very scared to jump trixel right now)

Anna Pogorilaya said that she was more nervous on Russian nationals than today  Good for her.

Is there a Yawning Emoticon somewhere ?

Unfortunately no. It could help a lot though. Save me time when answering some of those broken records here.

@ Alba -- Indeed. There are 1 or 2 of those broken records just below your earlier post. I suppose we'll have to content ourselves w/  or  or :ohwell:.

For extreme cases, there's always :bang:

Cheers!

I almost don't want her to try quad. It will be too risky.

For a moment I thought it was just my  making me see those jumps a bit higher.

I'll go and have a look to that article. Thanks. :)

Better not.

This is the first time I've seen her, and I agree with you. But as @kwanatic said she's new and young and it means she'll have to pay her dues.

Could someone tell me what's her Free program? I would like to see it.

She wouldn't get scored anymore for it if she did. Which is sad but probably the main reason. I'd love another 11 sec spiral out of her like the Kung Fu Panda one.
