2015-16 Grand Prix assignments

*excited shrieks*

I can't believe you lot got to nine pages (while I was asleep) and yet no-one has mentioned The Most Wonderful Awesome Fantastic Amazing Incredible Brilliant thing!

BRENDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

Congratulations, karne :).

Should I cheer loudly for you if I go to Skate America?

I know that Jason is your #1 favorite, but I hope that you will support all the other men at Skate America too -- with your expert cheerleading :cheer: skills.

Brendan, MAX :yay:, Takahito, Denis, ... did I already say MAX? ;) ...

Hoping Mirai does well at one of the early fall competitions and is given the mystery slot for US lady at Skate America. Go Mirai!

:agree: Go, Mirai!

Of course I will! I'm excited to see other skaters as well!

Cup of Russia seems to have rather weak fields. They left the door open for Plushenko and Sotnikova to have relatively easy events with the TBD spots.

Yulia is coming off of a devastating growth spurt and few skaters ever come back from that (Liza being a rare exception), although it's possible,

I'd hardly call her growth spurt devastating. Her season was a combination of: still exhausted from Olympic season, growth spurt, boot problems, scoring cracking down on edge problems and program issues. It was a bad combination but all of her SP's were nearly flawless - if the growth spurt was the problem, I think her problems would have been 'all-around' issues, not just FS issues.

Well, true...it was just a splat-fest of a season for her, in terms of almost every FS she did. I like Yulia a lot, but I'm not sure if she's ever going to get back in the form she was at the Olympics.

Sadly, I agree. I am still rooting for her, though! Hopefully she surprises me and has a major comeback this season.

It seemed like most all of the Olympic medalists had issues this past year, like some kind of curse. Some practice videos that have been passed around of her in the off-season have looked promising, and she seems much more focused in her interviews (well, based on translations) than she did last year.

Could someone explain if Mao will actually be at both her GP events? Last I checked her team had said that GP series may be unlikely. Maybe I missed some piece of news... (?)

Some fun facts, via Ice Network's twitter feed, @icenetwork:
Italy's Roberta Rodeghiero (@robyrode) has 50(!) international competitions under her belt. Rostelecom Cup will be her first Grand Prix. https://twitter.com/icenetwork/status/610532870432641024

Not to be outdone, Dasa Grm has competed internationally more than 70 times. She will make her Grand Prix debut at the Rostelecom Cup. https://twitter.com/icenetwork/status/610544784730685443

Way to go to everyone who got their first GP assignment this year, or their first in a while like Grant Hochstein. Speaking of, I wouldn't be shocked to see Grant get the SA host pick. Who are the other men who might be in the running?

Yes, please!

Max, Jason, Brendan and Kostya all at Skate America: I think this is my favourite so far! So many favourites!

Skate Canada is probably my least favourite thus far. Between Hanyuflation and inflation everyone else will be scrapping for bronze even if those two start zamboni-ing the ice with their behinds.

At least Josh will be at Skate Canada! That's something to look forward to!

And by Kostya do you mean Menshov? If so, I'll tell you that he looks SO similar to my math teacher from my Fall 2013 semester of college/university. LOL. Which I found so creepy.

Yes, he will be one of those scrapping for that bronze medal, and I'm sure he can do it!

Kostya = Konstantin, so yes, the Old Man Menshov :) I think he probably jumps better than your math teacher.

Answering my own question: Ross is the only other American man who got 1 assignment. Other men who have been mentioned are Alexander Johnson and Nathan Chen, though I'd assume he's staying junior if he didn't get any assignments. I suppose Jordan Moeller is an outside shot at best, but it would be fun for Team KoRo if he got it.

to focus on nats and worlds....like what better practice than to compete...
lame excuse for not showing up imo.
