Yeah, but Anna still left the door open, the problem was that the other girls didn't rise to the occasion. Nicole had problems both in the short and in the long, although her PCS sure were really on the higher side. But Anna had problems in both programs too. If she does it like this at Worlds she's gonna get buried in the standings. Again.
Last year she was injured so it was different.
Anyways, I'm pretty sure Anna won't go to Worlds at this rate. I think Liza will get sent but I don't think she's likely to do that well, so in that sense, it could play out in Anna's favor if she can sort through some of her issues and come back strong next season. If Tuk doesn't do well at Worlds, she'll be off the radar and the Fed may regret not giving Anna the chance.
I think Anna improved a lot this season from a presentation standpoint and her combinations also look much more secure compared to last season. Further, though she makes a lot of mistakes she's shown she can get it back together and fight through the rest of the program, it's not a situation where one thing goes wrong and the rest of the performance unravels. To me, Anna has the competitive grit and mindset to be successful, she just sometimes lacks the confidence and focus. But I think confidence and focus are easier to develop than grit and a competitive mindset, which some people simply do not have. Anna is also past puberty and still has strong jumps, to me, when she lands her jumps successfully they are a lot stronger than someone like Radionova. Obviously, with the inconsistency, she is not going to beat Radionova this season, but if she can get it together next season and in the future, things could change. If she looses her spot at Worlds hopefully it can push her to sort out whatever's causing the hard falls and come back even stronger next season. Her WS is high and she has a great SB from Mordovian Ornament, plus she gained some good ranking points from her senior Bs, Cup of China, and Euros, so she should be able to get 2 GP events even without going to Worlds.
If so, that's just utterly ridiculous! Why in the name of goodness would she do that? If she didn't want to compete anymore she could just... oh, I don't know... quit. Why put herself through all the training and competing and heartache &c, if she didn't care? And trying to injury herself on purpose... !
