2015-16 State of Russian Ladies skating

If the Russian ladies underperform in Boston(in relation to their potential, not relative placements), they should really reconsider the whole "take a breather after Euros" thing. They never have this long a break as juniors, I don't understand why they have it as seniors except as an accident of the calendar.

I don't understand it either. It seems they have more time between Euros and Worlds than between the seasons :dumb: One can put new programs and regain the shape during that time. Both Nationals and Euros should be held later.

Uploading another movie trailer, this one of Elena Radionova. Hint: it's spy-themed. #StayTuned

Will probably make one of at least one American lady. Or, like, fifteen people, until I use up all the iMovie trailer templates. They're oddly addictive.

Great! But maybe we could find a more fitting title, let me see ...

- Thunderspin

- You Only Skate Twice

- Gold Medals Are Forever

- Win And Let Lose

- Pointraker (?)

- The Judge Who Loved Me (co-starring Elizaveta Tuktamysheva as "Triple-Ax")

- GoldenSkate ( ;) )

- Tomorrow never UR's

- Worlds Is Not Enough

- A Quantum Of Bronze

Take your pick (or find a better one)

Is this thread possessed or something. What is all this garbage about. Isn't this thread about the state of women/girls skating in Russia? Does anyone know what shape Lipinskayia is in or if Leonova is retiring? Is Leonova the Fumie Suguri of Russia? Anyone has insight into when Pog falls why is it so dramatic and horrendous and splat. She falls splatacularlly! She is still beautiful - kind of reminds me of some of Maria Butyrskayas falls.

#FearTheMedvedeva

Btw, is it really correct to say "fear the Medvedeva"? :scratch2: Articles are not used with names, are they?
(no hairsplitting, it's just I've seen an argument about this title at one of the Russian forums, so I began to wonder about it as well... Can it be some case of use which I don't know?...)

My two cents:

I would say that using "the" with a proper name is a form of tongue-in-cheek aggrandizement.

Example: Long before Donald Trump was a presidential candidate, the press often referred to him in a tongue-in-cheek way as "The Donald." (Not sure, but I think the origin might have been that his first wife Ivana used to refer to him as The Donald??)

It's terrible English but kinda cute if you ask me. Very catchy and gives her even more of an edge as being a rule breaker. I was just trying to be funny is all. By calling her The Medvedeva it made her out to be even more of a feared creature. There is a saying or maybe it's a song "(Don't) Fear The Reaper".

Are people actually discussing the whole #FearTheMedvedeva in forums? I just said it because a poster said many of the posts here were based on fear so I just typed it without thinking at all. Those videos are hilarious though. I might have to make one of my own.
