2015-16 State of Russian Ladies skating

I used to believe Yulia, Evgenia and Serafima would co-exist peacefully in one team but now only one remains. But once Polina peaks on the senior level, and competes agains Evgeina, I am not sure what is going to happen. :sad21:

This is just my opinion, but it would also probably be hard for a high level coach to take Anna on if they have high level female skaters that Anna would compete with. The only coaching situation that I have ever seen where a high level coach coaches competitors at the same time is Brian Orser with Hanyu and Javi. I think would be a difficult situation. There were rumors about conflict between Yulia and Evgenia while Yulia was still in Eteri's group. Maybe Anna might do better to maybe find an international coach.

Question guys..where was liza the year before olympics??i was wondering why she was not in the olympics when the year after she won a lot..

There was a good reason for that: at the time she was dealing with her injured leg and also growth spurt.

Well, Evgenia and Serafima got along just fine, and it seems like Serafima left for other reasons. Yulia and Serafima also seem to be friendly. Polina and Evgenia are also close, so I don't think that's going to change all of a sudden (I don't think Yulia and Evgenia were every really that close). I think Eteri has done great things for her students, but her way to success is to create intense competition within her group. It works, obviously, seeing the success of her students, but it's proving to be unsustainable once they get older. Once they grow up, it takes more time and effort to help them deal with the changes...adjusting technique and all that. Eteri doesn't seem to have that part down yet at all. Hopefully she'll figure it out and the cycle will end with Evgenia. Evgenia, as much as I like her, seems like she is going to be very vulnerable to growth changes...maybe more so than Yulia before her. I hope Eteri will help her get through it, instead of jumping ship and refocusing all her energy on the next best thing...Polina.

I think Eteri has yet to be truly tested when it comes to handling multiple top senior girls at the same time. Julia jumped ship before we could get a clear picture of it but frankly the hazy picture I have seen (the start of the season right up to Russian nationals before Julia left) I'm not so sure its a great job. It felt like Eteri didn't give Julia as much attention as she did Evgenia this season and I was glad to see Julia go somewhere where she can get more attention from her coach. I know it was Evgenia's first senior season and therefore needed a bit more attention but it really felt like Julia was an after thought to her and got scraps.

I hope Anna's relation with Morozov does not go beyond choreographing programs, coaching will be dangerous:disapp:

Thank you alskling.
It will be interesting to see how Eteri will manage to divide her attention between Medvedeva and Tsurskaya during the Olympic season. That is assuming these two are still on top of their game by that time. Can you imagine Russian Ladies Nationals 2018?

I thought of this too but didn't want to say anything :noshake:
Anna is certainly a very beautiful girl, but she's also good friends with Ilinykh so maybe Elena can warn her to steer clear of any Morozov advances :taunt:

After seeing Morozov at Europeans, I think he might just be an affectionate person. The way he grabbed Florent after his free program I would have sworn THEY were dating. ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwqvyb3dmzE

It's the same for other Russian coaches and indeed most top coaches worldwide . There is a pecking order in each coaching group. Someone of Yulia's status of course cannot play second fiddle to a close rival. So she left for someone else who could give her the attention she needs, which was the right decision.

Alexei Mishin: "Tuktamysheva will not participate in the World Cup"

Coach Alexei Mishin said that the Russian figure skater Elizabeth Tuktamysheva not perform at the World Cup in Boston.

- Obviously, in Boston fly Evgeny Medvedev and Elena Radionova, but Anna Pogorilaya because surely open to question? Or not?

"I can say that Elizabeth Tuktamysheva definitely not become a party to the World Cup, because we have some other plans.

- What kind?

- Lisa is included in the composition of the European team at the World Team Championship, which will take place in April. It will be the first number is the team of the continent ", - said Mishin.

- In your opinion, whether to look for a replacement Pogorilaya World Cup or her performance at the European Championships, where she won the bronze medal, quite satisfied with the trainers?

- I believe that the world should go a trio, speaking at the continental tournament. They are fairly selected, and are worthy to take part in the main competition of the season. I think that now the selection is made quite civilized and correct. On the coaching council, in which I was involved even before the European Championships, of any substitutions were not discussed.

Hi RadSotnikhanovich, what a pretty picture of Sotnikova in your Avatar. It's so rare to see these skaters with their hair down and in "Normal" clothes.

It warmed my heart that now she has this picture as her profile pic on Twitter. It's so cute :agree:

I am kind of glad Liza is not going to Worlds, though I would love to see her. I think Anna deserves to go, and Liza would probably be better off preparing for next season. Although I guess she is actually preparing for the World Team Competition? I think Mishin knows what he is doing.
