2 of my favorite juniors medaled today at senior competitions...yay I kind of feel bad for Michal, though - he must feel so demotivated between this, Finlandia, and Nebelhorn. Chafik has beaten him 2x now...who would have guessed? (Very happy for Chafik, though!)

Michal might need to go back to the drawing board. He showed so much promise there when he first moved up to SRs and now when you look at the men who are beating him ....

IMO Michal's programs are great. (Especially the short). Better than those of most of his early season competition. He needs the confidence to go out and skate those programs solidly. That confidence, I'm afraid, has been lost after years of trying to rotate a quad he never really had. Once upon a time, all his other jumps were solid. I hate when this happens--an athlete leaps forward as an artist but can't reap the reward due to struggling technique. As always, Michal has the potential. More now in PCS than he had when he was first coming up the ranks. But how do you get that confidence back once it has been lost? I have no answers. Sometimes it happens, though. Carolina certainly rebuilt hers after years of disastrous performances (2009 Worlds being rather epic). Her comeback actually started after an injury forced her to take out some of her hardest jumps. I hope Michal can find that same sense of peace with who he is as as a skater.
