2015 Japan Open

Though most of the major medias have been focusing on Mao, I'd like to acknowledge that there's at least some news about Satoko:

http://www.daily.co.jp/newsflash/general/2015/10/02/0008450585.shtml

Satoko says she's enjoying JO so far. She says there's not much change in how she feels. Winning silver at last World gives her confidence. This season she'll work hard toward GPF and try to make the podium there.

After seeing those clips(3F-3Lo, 3A, 2A-3T), I am really surprised. Even though latter jumps of both of the combinations look short rotation wise(which she was not so successful in competitions back in 2013/2014), her 3A is actually "spot on." It seems like she's certainly capable of reaching the level she had. No, actually, I think she's almost there with recovering her competitive abilities.

Well...it's Mao Freaking Asada! There is no shame in losing to her

If she executes her 3A like what I've saw in the clip, I am sure that her 3A will be ratified. This will give her a huge advantage.

Definitely still some issues with the 3-3 though. 3a looked great though

I believe that she never got her 3F-3Lo combo completely ratified since 2009 Worlds sp, so I think that getting only one of the jump UR is actually the best choice for her since she can't jump proper lutz jump. Same with 2A-3T. The last time I remember when she got full marks with the combo was 2013 Worlds FS... But who really cares :p She was pretty successful at acquiring high TES when she became consistent with her jumps, especially 2013/14 season... The current judging system gives her a lot of advantages anyways.

2A-3T looked perfectly fine to me... while the 3F-3Lo does look UR.

2A-3T looks much better, she has a nice long glide after the 2A which delays the 3T entry. It seems that extra split second gives her time to focus and spring the 3T much better than previous seasons. I'm excited! 3F-3Lo looks as good as 2014 season, but it's very difficult for me to spot the Lo entry so I can't really tell if it is UR or not :\

That 3A looks DIVINE. Looks very effortless. Her 3Lo has a massive pre-rotation, so she'll probably get UR for that.

The last 2 weeks, my focus has been deeply in Rugby World Cup in England , and didn't realize JO is tomorrow!

I was watching news on TV Asahi tonight and it suddenly showed me Mao. OMG! :jaw: Mao rocks!! How can she still have such a perfect 3A??? No, looks even better actually. Very pleased to see her trying 3F-3Lo again. Her jumps have better roration in the air but still very airy like a feather.

Good luck to Mao and Shoma in JO! :cheer:

This is gonna be an exciting competition!

I'm sad that Satoko kept her hot pink dress instead of the one she used in the summer shows. :drama: It's beautiful, but doesn't fit her LP at all. :(

Her 3Lo has a massive pre-rotation, so she'll probably get UR for that.

All skaters have (on 3L). That's just the mechanics of the jump.

The best 3x-3L I've seen in practice (Nobunari): http://imgur.com/gnZq0Nd

She stopped working on 3Lz before Worlds 2013 because there was no time to get all of her jumps stable before the Olympics, but according to the interviews, she and Nobuo Sato plan to work on it again this season. According to this interview ( http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20151002-00000141-jij-spo ), Mao thinks her 3A and 3Lz became better than before. There was a clip from a couple of weeks ago posted recently with Mao's 3Lz, and while it wasn't perfect yet, it looked better than in the Olympic season.
Of course, the practice is one thing and the competition another, but she seems to be in quite good form for so early in the season. :)
