She was not slow. You need to look at how much ice she was covering and you'll see she was not slow AT ALL. Mao moves so effortlessly on the ice she tends to look all floaty anyways, and I thought that today, she was just very slightly cautious in her body movements. Understandable. It was her first competition in nearly 2 years.

But her jumps have improved, her spins have improved, her skating has improved!!
 
I wonder if Ashley will consider change her FS at this point... seems repeat the same program again is the only reason one can use to justify her lower PCS. Probably too late, but oh well...

Mao is slowish, but then the music is rhythmically slow and subtle, slow build up so it is kind of justified that way. She can maybe vary the build up more to create bigger impressions/impact towards the climatic end. But it is early in the season and this is a good effort.

One thing reading the protocols, we have the effect of ! instead of e :P
These rule changes are the best thing since slice of bread for flutzers.

The two American girls, Ashley and Gracie looked really glum with their scores. I think they know their chances of podium are not all that great.

Honestly, Mao is not slow at all. If she were so slow, how is she able to complete her program always skating so close to the board?

Mao well, she was a bit cautious but as usual its Mao so its always a beaty to watch

Mao was so pretty today. The program is fantastic, it fits her well. She delivered a great performance. Totally deserved the score, and I will give her even higher one.:rock::party2::cheer:

Somehow I have some feeling that Mao looks taller with that Kimono. Does anyone feel the same?
 
Gold's technique is actually becoming questionable. Swingy flip entrance, lutz spot is becoming quite aggressive...

Still, at least her programs are weird now, instead of boring.
