2015 Lombardia Trophy (Italy), Sep 17 - 20

Thanks all for the replies, and let me add my thanks to the many here who link to new videos and dig up links to old ones, for me personally it is much appreciated. As someone who wants to see the sport survive and wants to see skaters get more recognition for what they do, I remain disappointed that it's not the sort of thing that's done at the highest organizational levels of the sport.

As for the dead link to last year's Italian nationals, I did some digging, and here is a different, working link:

Thank you!  :points:

As Golden has already pointed out, Doris has been working hard sorting out links to videos. So, this link you have found will be invaluable to her when she comes to last year's Italian Nationals!

Advanced Novice Girls FS due to start about now. And it is good to see that they are having a proper seeded draw, skating in reverse order of the SP results.

No sign of the livestream springing into life yet, though. :disapp:

Livestream is now LIVE!!!! :cheer:

Group 1 warm-up is currently on the ice.

So, running late... as usual! :rolleye:

The stream has started :cheer: and there seems less mist in the rink today so we may actually see the skaters skates :D

Yeah, the mist on the main camera was becoming a major problem later on in the day yesterday. By the Junior Men, you could barely see them!

The girl starting us off (Greta MILANESE) was very brave. Lying in last position after the SP, she comes out in a VERY revealing dress, and skates to one of the most epic pieces of music you can get, "Lux Aeterna".

I wonder will it pay off?

They're taking a long time getting the scores out.

What's going on?

After Greta got her scores, we saw Aurora COLAONE going over to the panel and talking to one of them, and then she went over to her coach, and now she's doing another warm-up.

Ah, they've finally announced her now.

Group 3 warm-up on the ice.

Before the resurfacing, the lovely Sara LAVAGNINI took the overall lead. But, she looked very disappointed the whole time she was sitting there - both before and after the scores were announced. Maybe it was because she had 2 ahead of her in the Free Skate.

Sara did a "Carmen" routine. But rather than do either "Habernera" or "Torreadores", she did a medley of the two. And it worked!

And, to answer my own question, taking those chances did help Greta MILANESE. After being bottom after the SP, she now has 4 skaters below her!

Ah, the wee Estonian girl that did "Lux Aeterna" in her SP is on now. Don't know what she's skating to today, as they forgot to put the volume back on after the resurfacing!!! :bang:

The skating looked good, though!

EDIT: The audio came back just as the next girl (Celina Leonie WEISS) was about to start. And a real lively number it was she was skating to!

OK. After me lamenting last week that nobody seems to be skating to my favourite piece of skating music any more, it seems like all the younger skaters are!!!

Yet another "Lux Aeterna" from Sofia SULA (Finland)!!!

This one was different, though. It was a medley of two different versions.

I can't remember who it was (it might have been Isabel RATSEPP, or it might have been somebody in one of the later competitions), but yesterday somebody did a medley of the "Requeim For A Dream" and the "Lord Of The Rings" versions. And I LOVED it!!!

In Sofia's medley, we started with a version I had never heard before. I don't know how you would describe it. A "techno" version, maybe? I'm still trying to decide whether I liked it or not. It was just so, well, "different".

This was then followed by a far more familiar version!

And, in a strange way, it worked!

Strange animation as the camera shot changed a few seconds into Marta MARTIN's routine.

And a strange choice of music as well, I dare say!

EDIT: Marta and her coach don't seem interested in going to sit on the sofa. They just stood in front of the camera the whole time!

Do any of our Scandinavian members know much about Lisa LAGER? Because, she seems to be very popular at the rink!

As she was coming onto the ice, there were people in the audience singing to her!!! And it was specifically for her, because they mentioned her name! ;)

Nobody else got a reaction like that, not even the Italians!

The support seems to have worked, as she took the lead!

Right, now it's time for the wee Latvian girl that was so entertaining in the SP yesterday.

hi all, i am trying to watch but since i am at work it hard to follow and i cant pause/play i miss i a lot  hopefully it will be better for seniors :cheer: btw stream quality seems better than last season
it seems like you are enjoying your 1st season following juniors Caroliza_fan  :yay:

After entertaining us so much yesterday, it was not a great skate from Alina URUSHADZE (the wee Latvian) today.

The whole time she was sitting on the sofa, she was crying her eyes out!

Poor wee girl! I just wanted to go and give her a hug!

After being 6th in the SP, she is currently 6th in the FS, and 5th overall, with 5 to go.

Better luck next time, Alina!

Yeah, that's what I love about the YouTube streams - the ability to pause and re-wind. It would be great if these other streaming sites did the same. But, at least we have a stream to watch. There are plenty of competition organisers that don't bother. Or put geo-blocking on them.

I am! And it has really surprised me how much I am enjoying it.

I always avoided Junior competitions because I couldn't get beyond the idea of it being wee children in skimpy outfits.

But, after doing the Team Cyprus Fan Fest, I wanted to see what the competition for the Cypriot girls was like. And I soon discovered just how many quality skaters there are amongst the younger ranks.

As I said yesterday, I had no intention of watching the skating yesterday or today. But, I was so impressed with the quality of the Advanced Novice girls yesterday, that I did stay on.

Very unusual choice of music for French girl Aurea FURNO. It was more of a monologue than a song. But, it was VERY effective. And the skating was VERY good.

If it hadn't been for the fall, she would have taken the overall lead. :bang:

Yeah, they do go well together. And although the difference is only subtle, you can still tell when the first version of the piece has finished and the next version is starting.

Erm, what's "TTT" (I'm no good with abbreviations! :slink: )

NO CHAT!:cry::biggrin:

Oh, no. I switch off the chat all the time after the obscene comments that were being made during the first 2 Junior GP's.

Yes, I felt I was missing out when reading through the Golden Skate threads and finding out there were loads of skaters commenting during Colorado Springs. But, I wasn't watching LIVE that week, so I wouldn't have been able to read them anyway!

Anyway, the Advanced Novice boys are starting their competition. (Warm-up finished!)

wow, someone is really inspired but Julia's Shindlers List programs

OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!!

Bryan MAS of Spain started his "Schindler's List" routine by looking over the shoulder and running away!

I wonder who he was taking his inspiration from...

Funny that when Mas arrived at the sofa, his Spanish team-mate (Joan FARRES) and his coach were still sitting there, and had to quickly vacate!!!

"Boom Boom Boom Boom" by the Vengaboys at the end of the Group 2 warm-up!

It's been years since I heard that song!!!

There was a guy in my year at school that was nicknamed "Boom Boom" because he fell in the sports hall in First Form, and the noise echoed!

Are we doing a bow tie count today? Because here's an untied one!

Oh, that change of music caught me out. I thought he was finished, and that the person at the CD player didn't press the stop button quick enough!

(Well, that is what has happened with every other skater today, so why not Filippo as well?! )
