2015 World Team Trophy Ladies FS Apr 18

Hey all I moved the posts to a Team spirit awards thread so we can keep this thread for chatter about the Ladies FS...great idea on a topic!

And she finished in third overall, from CaroLiza_fan's table. I do wish Gracie could put her WTT Sp style performance together with her Worlds FS performance some day in international competition.

I wonder whether Kori Ade could help? There's a coach who knows how to foster consistency.

Not to mention to have a supportive training mate in Jason. Probably be great for Jason too! Though I really don't see it happening.

I feel like what we're seeing is a consequence of not working on mentality issues early on. I know she had a sports psychologist, but I get thr sense that her for,er coach wasn't the best at competitive mindset development.

I'm sad about Gracie's FS too, but you know? I've seen her different and... she was smiling!!!... She lost the first combo, but then I could see her struggle and her will to perform a nice program.. I think Gracie has changed, seriously. Also, you could notice this mental change in the last combo she did, which was only a 2A and she made a 3 jump combo.
Let's see if the 3A makes her more confident, if she had performed a clean programe today, she would have beaten Liza.

I'd imagine it would -- Liza's 3A today was the highest ever scored in the IJS system at an ISU event.

Actually Yuzuru is about 1m74 now, he has gotten taller but they haven't updated his bio. I have some Japanese friends who are about 1m8. I don't think they lack tall and strong guys.
Maybe as you said, they have no pair/dance coach.

If they have no success in either discipline it's hard to get guys interested, Mervin was successful for a while but he's not Japanese so it wouldn't really compel any of them to go into pairs or ice dance when good coaches aren't available.

My Japanese friend that I talk to jokes that all the tall guys in Japan end up in EXILE Tribe (a group of collective dance-vocal artists in Japan). There's no lack of tall guys, I watch swimming sometimes and they're all around the 180 mark. Shortest one I know of is 174cm and one of them is 188cm I think. Come to think of it World Aquatics is this year, I will definitely watch for the eye candy wait I mean athleticism mmm yes that

This is ladies FS thread, pretty please take Japanese men height issues somewhere else and stay there, thank you.

great skate from Satoko! i think well deserved PB, people keep complaining about the jumps and ignore to see how much refinement, musicality she has, her spins and skating skills is great, as well as CH,IN(these 2 are more subjective) looking at the PCS of other skaters, her TES is more than justifiable, i understand that her jumps arent highest but she didnt deserve the lowest PCS of the 2nd group when looking at the performances, it would be understandable if she had lower TES content but it was the same and she was clean

about Liza, congratz to her for landing amazing 3A and she deserved to win overall but i dont understand 68 PCS (i hope people will shut up about yuzuru being overscored even with clean skate like he did yesterday)

overall standings seems fair though

Liza already got 68 PCS at Euros for a no mistake program, she landed the 3A here, so even with a couple mistakes they're going to reward her for the risk, not saying she deserves it but scores have been a bit wild at this entire competition so them matching her PCS is actually ok (to me at least)

I think that's partially due to the inclusion of a triple axel. None of the PCS scores were above 9.00 and I'm cool with that. It is odd for a skater to get personal best PCS for a program that isn't clean, but at least Tukt added an AMAZING 3A. It's sad when somebody like Kostner at 2014 Worlds gets a personal best PCS, or Lip at Cup of Russia 2013 gets personal best PCS, for a meltdown program.

I'm betting the judges were given a talking to after the SP about Hanyu's scoring. No program should get 9.5's (or even a 9.75 which one judge gave) with an error like that. Yuzuru was fairly scored for his FS in terms of PCS, but his PCS scoring in the SP shouldn't have been more than 43 points given the UR fall (which was disruptive in an otherwise excellent program, IMO). But he is most definitely overscored in general (this season in particular). It's not just Hanyu's scoring though, overscoring of PCS is rampant.

Elizaveta's 3A and Satoko's performance were the highlights of the Ladies event for me.

I will NEVER understand PCS scores, but I try not to let them ruin my enjoyment of the skating.

i mostly dont comment a lot about PCS but its annoying that people only complain about satoko's jumps and never about her low PCS, i dont know if she was 6 pts behind liza( again really great that she landed amazing 3A and other jumps were great too apart from pooped ones)

i agree with you about yuzuru's PCS for both his SP and LP 46 for his SP was high but some users said he was overscored for his LP as well, and only time i think he was overscored was COC LP (SP was fair i think because his only visible mistake was step out of combo) but it was probably due to it being his 1st competition and him being olympic and world champion, at NHK he had even less PCS due to his mistakes

I don't think people should invest themselves too much time in complaining much about PCS at WTT honestly. It's just a fun event. :rolleye: just image if it were like Olympic team event, Japan had no chance on the podium at all.

Before everybody hates on Gracie (oh wait too late for that), she messed up the opening combo. Yeah, and that sucks. But she didn't let it ruin her performance and the rest of her jumping passes a la 4CC. I think it's a step in the right direction for a skater who is known as a headcase.
Gracie should skate to the music that suits her personality. Only then, if she fails, I'd call her a "headcase". Now, she is more of "PPP" (Pretty Princess Prisoner) for me.
