2016-17 Ills and Injuries

On her Instagram, Alexa posted a picture of her and Chris at the hospital (she's in a gown) with the #onthemend. No specifics, but hope she is recovering from whatever is wrong.

I would agree that speculation isn't appropriate. Alexa has posted pictures on her Instagram showing her in a hospital gown but hasn't said why she's there. I think it's best if we respect her privacy unless and until she chooses to share more information.

According to the latest TSL "This and That", Kirsten Moore-Towers has a concussion sustained during a side by side jump at practice. She seems hopeful that she and Michael will be on the ice soon but did not give a date. She seemed fine during the interview and said she is undergoing a type of brain recovery therapy.

Wishing KMT the best!

Get well soon, Kirsten - but at the same time; don't rush things!

Thanks for the interview link. As I was reading Nikita's description of what he's gone through (trying to tie his shoelaces; doctors telling him "don't fall") I was nodding my head as I had rotator cuff surgery a month ago & heard the same warning. I was also shuddering thinking of Nikita lifting a human being after having shoulder surgery (owwwwww). These figure skaters are really phenomenal. Fans of football rave about their athletes enduring all kinds of crap, but give me a break. Those football players don't have to lift a woman (while on thin blades on slippery ice...and after shoulder surgery!)

Figure skaters (both male & female) are much tougher & grittier than many would give them credit for. I think it's very much because it's such a "pretty" sport - the blood, sweat & tears aren't so readily apparent.

From the (massive) thread on the Russian Test Skates:

Ruslan is out with a knee injury. Elena Radionova withdrew from the FS for unspecified health reasons (some speculate it was just an excuse because her free wasn't ready, but those are unconfirmed rumours).

oh no... :( with the scary fall last year... sigh... what bad luck. I hope she gets well soon. I was excited to see her skate at ACI but I hope she doesn't return to the ice until she is fully ready to do so.

As far as I recall, her LP was done by Shae-Lynn Bourne and if so has been ready for quite some time - I remember some article/interview saying how people really liked it, and hockey guys would come by and watch, or some such thing. At any rate, unless they've since ditched it, I don't see how it couldn't be ready.

Maybe she was just feeling unwell - could be any minor ailment - and they decided not to push it, especially since the SP did not go well.

I believe the official version this time aka she was ill & now not in perfect shape

Thanks for the details! I'm excited to see her FS and to see her perform when she's at her best. Shae-Lynn Bourne seems like a great match for her!

Wasn't Kirsten injured during the Nationals too? The fall on her back at the SP was scary although she managed to pull it off at the competition and then went to Worlds. This time..ankle..I wish her for quick and full recovery.
