2016-17 Ills and Injuries

I noticed the tweet said he's doubtful for Japanese Nationals so I would think sadly he won't be at CoC.

He cannot compete at the Nats unless they fudge something for him. That's why he was at Sectionals, he didn't have a bye to the Nats so was pretty much forced to enter, thus further aggravating the injury in the SP, with the quad.

Thanks for the info Yatagarasu. In that case, it sounds like his best plan might be to focus on getting healthy and maybe try for some smaller spring competitions (Coupe de Printemps or Gardena?) to help get back into things. Very sad to think his season might be done already.

No problem and yes, I would think so. Considering his injury, he has lisfranc ligament damage, it's something like six weeks of complete rest for that leg if no ligaments torn so I think it's over. Sad but I hope he can heal and return full steam next season for the OG!

This is so unfortunate...I hope she can recover by the GPF... So far this is shaping up to be a rough season for the Pairs division...Sui/Han, Volosozhar/Trankov, Scimeca/Knierim, Stolbova/Klimov, are all out of the final. Hopefully S/M won't be the 5th top pair to be out.

And Moore-Towers & Marinaro missing their first event due to injury as well. Half of the top ten from Worlds. (Not to mention 4 of 7 from the GPF with Peng & Zhang and Yu & Jin reshuffling).

Liam Firus severly sprained ankle on practice thursday night practice Skate Canada. Impressive he competed.

Continuation of injuries from FanFests:

Julia Lipnitskaia:
(Reposted from the satate of Russian Ladies thread)

Yup, bad news :sad21::

http://www.fsrussia.ru/news/2683-yu...pit-na-chempionate-rossii-v-chelyabinske.html

On Dec. 18, while walking back from training, Julia Lipnitskaia fell on a slippery sidewalk. She has damaged her hip axis along with her lower spine. The diagnosis is a post-traumatic cervical arthritis along with a right hip bone bruise. The nature of such damage will not allow Lipnitskaia to compete at the Russsian Nationals since the minimal course of treatment takes 14-17 days (So that's Jan 1-4, at best, and Rus. Nats are Dec. 22-25 :()

Not like she was gonna make the top 3 anyway.... :sad21: Get well you sunny and flexible artist!

So Youn Park:

Soyoun withraw from nationals and Universiade;(
She had metal pins inserted into her fractured bone...

And no detailed info, but Michal Brezina had but luck too:
Oh my god...what happened to Michal? He fell on his shoulder, couldn't finish his program, couldn't even stand up straight when he got off the ice. Hope it won't be too serious...but I guess Jiri will be the new champion by default?

Not sure why Petr Kotlarek withdrew, either. He was on the ice, then got off.

The amount of injuries is terrible. All three are my favourites, so I'm extra sad for them. Get well soon!

EDIT: Michal is ok, per Czech interview: http://www.ceskatelevize.cz/sport/z...rave-cesti-krasobruslari-zverejnili-nominaci/ :)

Don't like to see Yuzuru's name in this thread :gaah: At least it's not an injury :hopelessness:

Oh, So Youn, Julia and Michal...get well and wishing for their speedy and full recovery.

Yuzuru Hanyu has withdrawn from Japanese Nationals due to the flu.

I'm literally shocked. But if he doesn't feel well it's better to rest than skating while feeling weak. Ice is dangerous afterall. Hope he gets well soon :)

Just for the record, Adam Rippon has broken his left foot and sprained the same ankle, while Polina is still recovering form right foot bone bruise: http://www.usfigureskating.org/story?id=90256&type=media It's sad when skaters are getting injured even when off ice :(

Which reminds me, also for the record, the relevant threads:
