Romain's total score at the recent Coupe de Nice was 154.68. Whether that was due to injury, I don't know.

That's a good translation. It's something like, "See you very soon, then" I think the Instagram was from Oct 17, though. I watch Romaine.

As host nation, aren't they allowed to choose another French skater? (if they have anyone else eligible)
Otherwise... I suspect they will choose someone less likely to beat Besseghier than Brendan, if they can...!

They don't really have any Men good enough to sent, so they probably won't replace him with French skater. Romain has competed this weekend in Nice, so it's not like he can't skate, he just got low socres... (and that's why he probalby is WD by Fed) But I alsod doubt Brendan, due to the reason you have pointed out

Mariah Bell not getting second Grand Prix assignment would be crime against figure skating. :disapp:

Break them, rewrite them or make some inside inter-federational deal to give this girl chance to shine and entertain ISU GP audience. American and world's skating needs this girl as a breath of fresh air, it's really right thing to do.

My guess is that either the withdrawals after that were too last-minute for replacements, or there just wasn't a need for a replacement.
There are other considerations. For example, Brendan was called into NHK Trophy last year on two days' notice, and they most probably chose him because a) he was already going to be heading to this side of the globe anyway as Australian Nationals were the week after and b) his coach was already going to be at NHK with Ricky Dornbush, so it meant they only had to pay for his airfare etc rather than both him and his coach.

There is no RULE that any specific skater HAS to be invited to a second GP event. Hosts have the option to invite whatever skater they choose. That is why it is called an INVITATION. Capisce?
Anyway, IIRC, Osmond went to 4CC later that season and finished 7th, beaten by several of the skaters who would have been at the event you think she should have been invited to (and would have likely beaten her there, too).

Do people really expect skaters to maintain the same level of athleticism from October/November to February? I mean, after last season at least I wouldn't be ready to say 'Look that kid Shoma Uno is a lock for the 4 Continents podium because he was almost perfect in the FS at Skate America'. Injuries, fatigue, training issues, etc. happen. Or we could just turn a blind eye to the realities of training and competition. That's cool too.
I'd like to see an alternates list for the Grand Prix. Skaters who are on standby in case someone withdraws, as is the case with Grand Prix Final. It doesn't have to be a host federation only thing. Make it by World ranking if necessary to keep it fair.

I did see that thread. Thanks for creating it.
I think the difference between my suggestion and yours is that I would let the host country keep it's host spots and choosing power, but have alternates on a set list that the host fed couldn't meddle with in case of WD. Other spots could be filled by non-host members for non-host spots. For example, if a Chinese pair WD from Skate America then an alternate from any country except the US would be called in, and this would be someone from the ranked alternate list. But if an American pair WD from Skate America, the US would have the option of calling in an American pair from the ranked list of alternates. I guess host countries have this privilege of host spots given to them to make up for the burden of hosting GP events, so I wouldn't take it away. Just make it a bit fairer. I say fairer because I see the practices the FFSG engages in by not inviting skaters ranked higher who could beat their own when a WD happens.
