Finally watched the ladies SP!
My thoughts here on the top 5

Satoko : Well done, honey! Keep this up for 4CC and worlds :agree:
Rika : I think this is the best she skated this SP this season. Nice to see that!
Wakaba : A clean SP!!! But honey, it would be nice if you change the 3F into a 3Lo. It is just 0.2 pts difference and you have no edge call risk. Look how it did wonders to Satoko.
Marin : Oh yey finally a clean SP I can watch, I have been waiting for the video. However, sweetie, get your levels on steps and spins please. It is such a waste of points :hopelessness:
Mai : I think it was a good SP. I am not sure why the score is so low. Looked like she lost levels too? Besides, her PCS is low here, she received 31 PCS on CoC. Japan please. :slink:

And for Mao. I will just say it is heartbreaking to see her struggling. Either way, she is already a legend and I wish her the best. :sad21:

Never thought I'd live to see the day JNats would become a farce and RusNats would have a decent tech panel! What a time to be alive lmao :laugh2:

Anyway, I love the TES box at Japan Nats. It is not annoyingly huge like American one, but it is informative and give separate box for GOE and BV. I hope the ISU adopt this.

Here's judges scores for the top six in the short until the JSF publishes the pdf tomorrow, while I'm learning how to make a nice looking table... wish I knew how to right-align some selected columns.

Yes, really impressive skate from Miyabi!
I was thinking the same. Rika is not here, but she has better international results this year than Yuna and I don't know if the Japanese Federation wants to let off the team a girl that landed 8 clean triples in a program :eek:hwell: I hope Yuna can skate well tomorrow!

Rika would likely have been here if she had not been injured... And even with her injury, she beat Liza N at JGPF, so that's pretty credible in its own right.
Yuna came in 2nd at Jr Nats IIRC, and her JGP performance was affected by injury, so it's kind of a wash both ways. Hoping that Yuna will skate well, regardless of which of the 2 girls they choose, either is worth supporting.
JW will be more crucial to Yuna than Rika though as Rika has still got one more year in juniors and Yuna needs a chance to improve her SB to contend for senior GP spots next year.

I thought it has been discussed that Rika's chance of going to JW is basically close to zero, since senior Nats participation is a requirement to be chosen? :scratch2:

Hmm... technically yes, but what happens if Yuna ends up failing to break the top 10 in Senior Nats (i.e. she is still the 3rd highest placed junior-age skater but gets beaten out by a lot of lesser known senior skaters)?
Or if Rin Nitaya beats her in Sr Nats, given that she still lost to Yuna in terms of overall JGP track record? :slink:

Don't forget Wakaba / Mai / Yura are still age-eligible for Junior Worlds. It will not be surprise that Mai / Yura assign to Junior Worlds if they fail to make 4CC/Worlds team.

This won't happen for sure.
Being at Sr Nats is a mandatory requirement for JSF, so I'm afraid Kihira's chances to make the team are very very slim.
Yuna imo is still JSF's number one choice for third spot, but should she fail to crack top ten (which can always happen, but I hope with all my heart it won't) JSF could go for one between Riko Takino and Saya Suzuki who did pretty good at Jr Nats and they both had good SPs here too. But they have zero international experience, that's why imo Yuna still has the best chances.

I'm so proud of Satoko. She's had a tough GP season but then she came back in the final and now she delivered the best SP of the season. She was so relaxed. People talk about who's going to be the next Mao, who's gonna be the next star, meanwhile this young girl is on her way to winning her 3rd consecutive National title and she's only 18. Flawed or not, she is the one leading Japan in the ladies field, she's the one fighting the Russian skaters shoulder to shoulder and has been doing so since 2014-2015. Sometimes hard work, determination, focus and nerves of steel can make up for the lack of natural athletic talent. She has the ability to turn any kind of experience into a learning experience, even the bad ones. She inspires me.

With the help of technical panel as well. She is still the kind of skater who has to depend her life on technical panel. That fact will never change. For now JSF can inflate her score to the roof. But image a strong US lady appears, she will be thrown under the bus.
