Suppose McNamara & Carpenter were not competing for US.

Their scores at the JGPF were high enough to qualify for Senior Worlds.
SD. TES. PCS
65.90 34.55 31.35
FD
92.36 44.70 47.66

They could learn a senior level SD, add the extra lift in the FD, and go to Senior Worlds.

And Spirodev & Kaliszek of Poland (sixth at Jr Worlds, 24 at Senior Worlds last season)
http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00014997.htm
and Nazarova & Nikitin of Ukraine ( third at Jr Worlds, 17th at Senior Worlds last season)
http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00012757.htm
have both done both senior and junior worlds in recent years,

This has even happened in the US. Belbin and Agosto did both senior and junior Worlds in 2002.

Is'nt this Torun Cup????

I'm glad I didn't stay up to see see the ending of the Junior ladies... they had issues recording it and I(and people in chat) couldn't find it when I woke up. But 20 or so minutes later they somehow inserted the final skater's performances back in the stream where they belong.

Protocols are still not up yet...

Ekaterina Kurakova - 105.30 - 3Lz 3F(!e?) 3Lo 3Lz+1Lo+3S 2A+3T 3S+2T 2A - Awesome... they changed the layout to be heavily backloaded... maybe dangerously so as it puts her in danger of Zayaking. She very well may get a JGP spot next year considering she's doing 3Lz+3T and quite a few of the top Russian junior ladies are doing 3Lo combos which should be the solo SP jump next year.

I didn't watch her performance, but Diana Nikitina's scores seem low-ish...

can't see how junior ice dance scores at a JGP could translate to senior worlds !

They do. I'll just "like" Doris's post. I believe Lee & Kam from Korea are a dance team that has met the Worlds TES requirements, has only competed as juniors, and is competing against senior teams in their Nationals. If this is correct and they were to win--which is unlikely because Kim & Minov are--L&K could compete at senior worlds. Of course, any athlete has to meet his or her own country's qualifying criteria as well. Whether that means regionals, sectionals, or a nationals placement; but those are not requirements imposed by the ISU. Many countries have only one or two dance teams that could ever hope to meet the short dance TES requirements for senior worlds. I believe it is considered the toughest mandatory TES score to get this season in any discipline. The required score is a specific percentage based off the winning score at last year's senior worlds. And this season the base value for the senior dance pattern is lower than last year's so teams that were right on the bubble before have to do more within their other elements in order to earn the SD TES. Zahorski & Guerreiro, for example, 5th at Russia Nationals, haven't earned it yet. Sinitsina & Katsalapov, 2nd this season, didn't earn it last year. The required SD score for 4CC's and Euros is lower; but serious kudos to any dance team--be they junior or senior--who earns the Worlds SD TES scores.

And, yes, this has to do with the Torun Cup because every dance team here has to meet the same ISU TES requirements;).

Kana MURANOTO / Chris REED just got the minimum TES for the World. They already had it for the FD.
If Emi HIRAI / Marien DE LA ASUNCION also get the minimum TES today, who will go to Boston? M/R because they won the nationals?

Muramoto & Reed should go. They also defeated Hirai & De la Asuncion by almost 20 points at NHK. (Despite some major errors from Chris). M&R definitely have more scoring potential.

The Aussie junior team got TES high enough for either Jr. Worlds or senior 4 continents.

The French almost surely earned high TES enough for senior Worlds. They might actually get to go, if Alessandrini & Souquet and Ojardias & Bramante don't manage the trick at Euros.

So probably did the pair from Belarus. The qualifying TES could be adjusted by the ISU if either not enough or too many teams have qualified for Worlds.

I actually enjoyed the French couple quite a bit, though their music was interesting (I'm not sure if I mean that to be a positive or not). And that was Schoenfelder in the K&C with them, right? If so they get all the bonus points from me!

thanks. It would have been indeed the most sensible solution.

And H/DLA don't get the TES even today anyway

I think there should be one Steps-Spins-Spirals(jumps would just be decoration) contest a year created for good skaters/performers who just don't have the jumps... I've seen Solo Ice Dance and that's not what I have in mind at all.

Actually, after viewing this video, Solo Ice Dance may be exactly what I have in mind... the other videos of Solo Dance that I've seen where very formulaic..

Angelina has won in the end. The only better FP was from Amy Lin. And Mae end up only in 7th place
