2016 Skate Detroit

Kelsey Wong: Coral one shoulder dress with...*sigh* silver... rhinestones. Da Vinci's Code soundtrack :luv17:. One of the few people I've seen skate to it that has done it well- the choreo's not too fussy. One fall, but everything else was good.

Stream went out, so I don't know the score.

Wong is possibly the smoothest skater in this group. Ugh why give us a short spiral! More spiral!!
Lutz fall perfectly in tune with the music. Not my cup of tea but she deserves points for transitions despite some of them being a bit unessecary

It almost makes you wish they'd bring back the spiral sequence. And lol at these musical falls- there were so many of them tonight!

Me too! The FS needs a lil bit of tweaking especially the music (use less vocals!!) but I prefer them so much more than last year's.

anything is better than last year's! lol
I will only replay FS at 4CC just because of the silver medal memory :laugh2:

Anyway, she doesn't look comfortable yet with the FS. She hasn't figured out the timing and speed into these jumps.
Hopefully, it will be perfect the second time around :agree:

The choreography for Mirai's long program doesn't pick out the nuances of the music as well as her short program. A part of that is the song choice, which doesn't really build that much over the course of the skate. Maybe this is just a rough early version of the piece but it's not really until the end that I feel like she's skating to the music as much as the music is sort of just playing in the background while she goes through her jumps. But if she's able to give the piece more emotional commitment in each move, it could be great.

I think both her programs are just super. IMHO the long just needs more time and emotion. She needs to get down into her knees a bit more and make the moves a bit more melancholic and meaningful. It's all in her hands and feet as they say. Great job for this time in the season though. Press on, Mirai!!

I liked her programs from last year! And her Great Gatsby dress and headband was my everything!

Just tuned in... I've been in and out and I'll keep being in and out; watching around working and cleaning and such. First live event watching of the season! :hap85:

Oh my gosh, my heart's in my throat. I hope they're okay.

Edit: No, they don't look okay, or at least he doesn't. I'm surprised she's okay after that fall.

Man, this is the part of skating I hate... you know injuries happen but to watch them happen...

And I've witnessed quite a few so far in cheerleading. You name it. I've witnessed concussions happens, sprains, etc. I've seen some also. NEVER fun to witness at all. You feel numb even though it isn't you.
