REALLY like how how he handed the mic to Ross and Adam for their comments as well. Not only nice and respectful, but may as well take the opportunity to get seen by the press.

Someone (with a very heavy accent) asked who the biggest rival is. Some confusion as none of the trio can figure out what she means. Then fianlly it's clarified that it's the World rivals. Adam says "take out a map". Max starts listing countries. Ross talks about the ladies and Max laughs and says yeah those triple-triples!

Don't for get Adam caressing the mic saying "everyone" with total "I'm worth it!" eyes.
It shows how they have become great friends over time.
Adam's comments about making sure they stay in the present was very good. Nathan and Vincent are the future for the US. Adam, Ross and Max don't have time to ponder over this. They need to withstand the pressure of harsh criticism about not having enough quads (Phil Hersh) and do what they do.

Haven't caught any of the performances yet, but LOVE LOVE LOVE the sp standings! Wow, go Max and Ross and Adam!

5 out of 19 men even attempted a quad.
Only 2 men actually landed one.
Based on some of the comments here, I guess many US skating fans are quite alright with the fact that things are stagnating here, if not straight up regressing.

I must say that I enjoyed many other skates tonight as well. Didn't see everyone, but Omori, Rabbitt, Dolensky, Oi, Stinehart, Savary all had me clapping at my computer screen.

And how all three of them kept passing the mic back and forth because they couldn't figure out what the question-asker meant but no-one actually wanted to ask her to clarify it so nobody wanted to answer

One of the reporters at the press con asked the top 3 what they thought of Nathan Chen's historical SP tonight as the first American man to land two quads. All 3 guys basically said, "I didn't know that, wow!"

but it's progress right? Weren't there even less last year? This time a few were landed. -so the guys are slowly getting there.

I think some of the guys simply cannot do a quad or it's not ready. I don't think it's worth the risk to do poorly executed quads. I mean Vincent attempted a 4S out of a spread eagle entry, landed it, but it was << leaving him with only 2.7 pts. Sure it looks like the men are stagnant, but better to know one's limits, go for a layout that would score higher than go for the quad layout and score lower. At least hold down the fort until the next generation comes.

Most of the quads landed weren't from anyone at the press con, and Miner and Rippon didn't have one. USFS still choosing to promote quad-less men with little chance at the international level.

USFS isn't "promoting" them, they're winning, on points, against men who "have" quads.
Holy cow, and again I'm using this post as jumping off point, Sabinfire, not a personal attack, but why can't those of us who enjoy skating without quads just be allowed to enjoy it? and understand that medals will probably not result? And that I, at least, am just too old to care?

Actually when Max finished skating I thought, Well karne will be so happy!
The look of happiness and sheer relief on his face when he finished was priceless.
My goodness, he finally learned two things this year: skating isn't only about jumping and if you slow down (mentally and to a degree physically) you'll have more control and skate better. Bravo Max!
