2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

She wasn't clean, she missed a combo.
Anyway, I'm sad that Alina was overpassed in PCS by Mihara with 4 points :(. I don't really think the difference between these 2 is so big in reality ...
Mai is the fastest Japanese lady I have ever seen, and faster than all Russian senior ladies. Look out for that girl if JSF want to promote her.

I really liked Zhenya's new FS. But apparently they have said Anna Karenina is the new FS for her? I am so confused. :scratch2: If she did really change though, then mad applause to her for not stepping on the train of skaters going back to their old programs.

It seems that Evgenia will skate on Anna Karenina as a FP in the competitions.
Is there any news about Alina's SP? Hope she will not change the program with her last year one, only a dress with a new avant-garde one :confused2:

but anyway. Anna Karenina is new program.

I guess Evgenia prepared two LPs in the summer. Didn't she skate to Anna Karenina at an exhibition in Japan with her arm on an arm sling half of the program? It may be a modification of the exhibition. After seeing Anna P. and Konstantinova skated to Anna Karenina, I think the music is much more engaging than Evegina's LP she skated earlier.

Japan Open results at the moment:
Evgenia 77.03+75.05=152.08 Long live the queen!!!
Mai Mihara 77.25+70.58=147.83!!!
Alina Zagitova 79.21+66.07=145.28
Mirai Nagasu 72.57+62,12=134.69
Marin Hodna 69.20+64.21=133.41
Caren Chen 55.22+62.1-1=116.32

Well, no surprise here. As I predicted, Zhenya could get back to her previous layout, but I didn't realize that it will be a new program. That's why there were some conversations about Lambiel. Probably, this FP is his work or something. Also, about Mai, she is a fast and attacking skater, just like Canadians. And you saw the results and scores at Worlds 2017 for them. But I also disagree with Alina's PCS. Mai sacrifices transtitions to skate faster, Alina sacrifices speed to skate with transitions. As we know, ISU don't make exceptions, and if one of your elements on the high level, other elements will be there too. So she should have the same PCS, at least.

Anna Karenina is a very heavy themed music, of course it will draw more attention than subtle music.

I agree. 4 pointa gap is too big

To be honest, I don't know if Alina and Evgenia have equal opportunities under Eteri. I mean Evgenia worked with Averbukh and now with Lambiel.
On the other hand, we don't hear the same news about Alina, and she really needs support to improve that PCS scores, as we can see.
