2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

I wish Sakhanovich would have tried to go to junior nationals. I know she's older than most of the competitors there and she might feel like it's a step backwards but she'd have a greater chance of making it there rather than senior nationals. Fedichkina gets to go junior nationals regardless, so I'm not concerned about her. But it'll be bad for Sima and her morale if she makes neither nationals. Her chances of making senior nationals now look slimmer by the day, from one in two to one in three or four depending on others' skills.

I recognize the 'official' impact of Nats and coaches meeting in December, but I feel like much will be decided in China today and tomorrow regarding Russian ladies Olympic spots. Very, very important tourney for Liza, Alina and especially - Elena.

Judging by the recent news, I'm not sure about the Olympics at all. There is a chance that Russian Nationals 2018 will be the last competition for the Russian girls.

Stupid political game.. But if they can compete under the Olympic flag that is OK.

I´m not sure if all will want, and i´m not sure if russian fed will be fine with that (sometimes they can get weird, because if competing under Oly flag is the only option, the good way would be to send the best, to win all medals under the Oly flag and then brag and show off anyways).

As a side note, I think all the "omg there are scratches on the probes" accusations got kinda weird. Because like, quite a bunch of people can scratch it.
Because like, they just post something like that, and another round of paranoia begins.

Agree. Viktor Petrenko in 1992 as example. But that will be too humiliating for Russia. I'm afraid Russia can not allow girls to participate under the Olympic flag because of that. And it would be ridiculous, because they deserve to be there.

I actually think that the right thing would be to still send everybody under Oly flag. Sort of a show that russians still slay.
At least the other countries still dont get the medals.

I'm pretty sure they would compete with the Oly flags as they did at Rio 2016 because why not seriously.

Meanwhile the jerk who organized and facilitated the whole thing, likely exaggerated about it, covered his own butt by destroying the guilty and the innocent samples then moves to the US and sells his story in return for zero prosecution. Lol. You go WADA. :palmf:

Anyways...there is s thread about this somewhere. Let’s just hope reasonable minds prevail.

I just hope that all this paranoia ends. Already the issue sounds like political persecution, the newspapers in my country have been too sensational and harsh against the Russians (at a general level).
If someone is doped, they should be punished individually. The supposed McLaren Report still does not give concise evidence, so a punishment to all athletes is unfair.

Team Russia must be present . (I already take granted Evgenia's victory) she must sing her anthem with her flag in the podium.

And if Medvedeva and Zagitova don't compete, that podium will be a podium of shame, with fake gold -silver.

Now, waiting anxiously for the cup of China. I want gold for Alina, and two clean programs for Elena, please

This is "Kids on Ice", a TV show and a competition among 8-9-year-old kids. Aimed to giving them the opportunity to start a sport career, regardless of their home town and other (dis)advantages.

Very solid and strong GP debut by Zagi. Even with a fall on the combo she got 69 points. Beautiful jumps with transitions in and out, spins, step sequence. That's really something!

I don't think that a lot of the girls would want to compete under the Olympic Flag... I remember an interview with Aliya Mustafina where she said that it's crucial for her to compete under the Russian Flag. I know, it's a different sport, but I think a lot of girls would feel like her.
