2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

How many Ladies can Russia send to Europeans? Is it like Worlds where you can send 3 skaters? I'm worried about Tuk, Leonova, and Pogo. Liza was world champion in 2015, and Alena and Anna both have world medals.....I'd hate to see them stay home but, I can't see Anna or Alena making the Olympic Team...

But still kind of crazy scores at 2017 World Team Trophy. For the short program scores were fine, but I still don't get how she earned 160 for the free skate.

Be it a league of the +10 bonus for being Zhenya, Alina is not yet in it anyway. :)

I'm sure Medvedeva's era is on the end.... if not this season, certainly the seasons to come...

The question is, how many seasons. :)

Evgenia is really overscored, that's the reality.
She has poor musicality and expression, poor jumps, problems with edge on lutz etc. Many issues.
But she's really strong mentally and this brings her consistency and she is really very hard worker. It's the classical example what a strong mental and hard working can bring to an average talent.

Oh, I didn't even realize that Zagitova's FS is only 3 points behind Medvedeva's record(World Team Trophy doesn't count). Interesting... If she could actually nail the SP and go back to the more difficult choreo layout for it, who knows what she could manage to do this season?

Russia has three spots for Europeans :). I don't think Liza, Alena and Anna have chances to go there.

But Evgenia's skating skills are getting better and better. Alina is not her rival in PC scores at all. The main question is: TES and PCS gap between them. This will determine a winner.

This is some creative analysis. Her expression isn't the best or the most aesthetically pleasing but at least she does pay a ton of attention to it and does numerous things with it. No one else even attempts to use it close to as much as she does. And her musicality definitely is not poor.

Zagitova's stronger technically but let's not go overboard here.

Anyway, I know that if Med participates at the Russian Champ she will win even if she bombs there. Because the Russian Fed will protect her.
I remember it happened the same with Tarasova Morozov and Stolbova Klimov last season I think.

You saw Evgenia's scores with fall on the axel. 150 points. I expect +5 points with clean skating at Europeans. If Alina will be also clean, if not that mistake in the short program on the flip jump, she would have about 78 points for that.

Well I guess I have no words for some of the things posted on this forum. Is there a thumbs down option?

You can always like a post and then unlike it

Or you can reply with a thumbs down as a post icon at the top. I chose the lightbulb for this post

If you count open mouth and some exaggerated gestures (as in the case where she starts the waltz in Anna Karenina) expressiveness yes, I agree she is very expressive.

I hope I'm wrong but, I agree. They've had great career's but I think the chances of them making it back to the big events might be over. How is Elena Radionova looking?

I have a challenge for you guys....if the tech caller were ultra strict at the Olys for URs, which skater will lose more points, Med or Zagi?

Her face is the weakest part of her extremely powerful artistry.

I think Medvedeva will win the Europeans no matter what... She still has the reputation. And Europeans are in Russia and Russia Fed has the interest to protect her as she is their best chance to win an OGM. And Zagitova wasn't perfect up now. She won, but with mistakes. This will not make the Russian Fed to have confidence in her especially this season.
