There is something to love about her though—her LP at Nationals was just magic. Like it or not she is charismatic. Of course her consistency is a worry. If she stays inconsistent she won’t last.

It doesn't matter whether she is charismatic is or not, the problem is how she's being treated by the fed. She won just by PCS, she even missed a combo in the short, which should be a very costly mistake, basically you don't have any chances to podium after that, considering the depth in russian ladies. But it doesn't matter when you have the highest PCS without any reason(the PCS which she NEVER gets internationally, nothing even close to that). Also she was at previous JWC and completely screwed up...
And about consistency - you know, Gubanova basically made a single mistake this season which completely erased her season. But when Konstantinova screws up - nothing changes. She gets 100500 more chances, when others can't allow themselves to make a single mistake.

Look at JGPF. All clean (almost) and Panik is the only Eteri's girl beaten by Kihira.

P.S. I love Dasha. And I think she should focus on her SS/Pr and get some A-rate programs next season (if she is going to turn senior).

Sometimes I wonder about the strategy, often mentioned in this forum, of moving talented girls to Eteri to get them in top shape. Don't get me wrong: the work Eteri does is fantastic, but I worry about the underdogs in Eteri's group, not to mention the possibility that, if she coaches them incorrectly, all the girls will learn it wrong. I think it is a lot of responsability to put into the hands of Eteri and co.

Russia's got plenty of coaches who can do an amazing job, and if I were one of the underdogs at Sambo, I would consider changing coaches in order to be the the top girl somewhere else, assuming, of course, that I would get the same level of coaching. It must be difficult for Eteri to go "Have you seen how talented Gulyakova is?" when you have Trusova and Kostornaya doing better than her.

Better question would be "who's safer bet as a senior skater"?

I say Stasya - with jumps past puberty, very fast on ice, energetic, charismatic, authentic, lovely, kind, warm, polite, direct personality.
Kostornaia is still a puberty question mark, less charismatic, rather robotic and artificial in her skating plus emotionally reserved.

If you are an underdog in Eteri's group it's better to maximize your strengths and hide your weaknesses. Who can do it better than Eteri? Orser? I don't remember a skater who became world/olympic champion after leaving Eteri.
